Jerking after re-acceleration

I’m about to come to the three year mark of ownership on my ‘22 Maverick. Other than a few recalls, I’ve been super happy with my little truck. It’s really checked every box for a vehicle for my husband and me.

When I took it in for the last oil change and recall fix I told them the fuel mileage had dropped and asked them to address it. Still not getting any better than 22 mpg. It was getting nearly 40 mpg three years ago when I bought it. Every time they put it on the computer the mileage gets worse and worse.

But my biggest concern it that lately when I lift my foot off the accelerator, say in a school zone to coast at the posted speed limit of 10-15 mph, and when I re-accelerate the truck lurches and jerks several times before it smooths out and moves on down the road.

Should I be concerned? I mean I AM CONCERNED! That’s why I’m here asking the question. Any input would be appreciated before I take it back in to have the NEXT recall done for the battery connection replaced.

Could be CV axles or engine/transmission mounts. They're well aware of the CV axle issue, so recommend they check that.

On the bright side CV axles are cheaper than a new transmission.

How many miles are on it and have the Spark Plugs been changed? Eco Boost engines are hard oin plugs since they're Turbocharged. A buddy of mines 3.5 Eco Boost F-150 started having issues like yours with no CEL Auto Zone told Him it was probably the Oxygen Sensor or Sensors. He thought it was the plugs changed them all was good again no misses or jerking.

If it is either CV axles or transmission, it should be covered under the 5 yr/60k mile Drivetrain warranty.

If it was something mechanical such as CV axles or engine/transmission mounts you would definitely feel it but it wouldn't be like the jerking when slightly re-acceleracting.
What you're describing matches the behavior when spark plugs are misfiring and there are several things that could cause it such as worn spark plugs, truck overheating, vacuum leaks, etc.
