Iphone gets hot intermittently!

When I plug my iphone into the infotainment system, it randomly gets hot and makes my screen do dim.

It doesn't do it when I'm in my house or any other time, only when I'm plugged in in the truck.

Anyone else?

Me too but I think it’s an iPhone issue. Mine did that while streaming a video for an hour unplugged earlier. It got hot as hell.

Do you use a navigation app? The GPS tends to use more energy, and especially when charging the iPhone might get hot. Mine has turned the charging off because it got too hot, because I was charging, streaming and using GPS. One of the reason I got the wireless carplay unit.

Once awhile I might have to unplug to get it started (not sure iphone or unit thing,less so after the latest iphone upgrades) but never locked up during use. Used velcro like the one from EZPass to mount underneath where the charger port is. Even lights up that area because it has a blue LED. Keep your phone in your pocket and Carplay is alwyas there.

Had factory Wireless carplay in my previous car ( 2020 BMW) and it would lock up more frequently than this aftermarket unit. Technology wise the Maverick has a lot of the same options as the twice as expensive BMW. Only thing I miss is the rain sensing wipers. But the Maverick does have Blind Spot Monitoring.

are you using an aftermarket cable? not an apple cable? if so that's most likely the issue.

Another issue could be the charge level when you plug it in. If it is low it might fast charge and coupled with the other items I mentioned it might get hot.

Thanks but not it! I also made a 200mi trip and intermittently got hot and dimmed!
It never gets so hot that I get a warning either, just dimms for a few minutes bk to normal!
