Interior durability input?

I've been intrigued by the Maverick since it came out but was never able to get a order in or find one at MSRP. I finally got a order in and build date assigned for Jan.

The more I read about the interior quality and it scratching really easy, the more I get cold feet and want to just pass on my order.

Are the interior plastics really that bad?

I know it's a "budget truck" but it's really not that cheap anymore. My XLT Fx4, 4k tow and lux is $33k. I'm starting to get the feeling I wont be happy if the interior looks tore up after a year. My 23 Subaru Outback still looks new after a year even with my kid dragging their backpack in and out of the back seat area etc.

I have not found my 23 XL Hybrid to have any interior durability issues. With that said I am "easy" on things and take care of my stuff.

I’ve had my truck exactly 1 year. The area that shows the most wear is where the drivers seatbelt is. You can see it gets scuffed by the metal seatbelt. Everywhere else shows minimal wear. I used my truck as a commute vehicle and have 30,000 miles in the first year.

The plastic on the Maverick is absolute trash, especially as you go above the XL trim. I would classify it as worse than the Outback.

My truck has gotten more scuffs in it in 2 years/18k miles than my 20 year old midtrim Accord has gotten in 190,000 miles.

If you have kids, it will get scratches & scuffs. No way around it.

FWIW, I've about 5k mi. on my truck and I don't have any scratches on the pillar below the seat belt, where Executech's is scratched all to hell. But when I unbuckle, I don't let the metal buckle fly back against the pillar.

Unfortunately the more I look into it the more I think the Mav may be built a little too cheap for me and I won't be happy long term. I think at a base $24K I'd be fine with it, but after adding a few creature comforts that I'm used to and being in the $33K range, that's really pushing it for the quality.

Such a hard choice.

Judging by my 18’ Raptor, 21’ Bronco Sport, 22’ Mach E and 23’ Bronco the interior durability is trash in Ford interiors and that’s while being extra careful except with the bronco sport. My 13’ focus is my beater car and a 14’ Mustang also had more durable plastics and my 23’ Cadillac CT5 also had more durable plastics. If Ford put heavy duty cardboard instead in these vehicles that would prolly be more durable at this point.

Just me and 2 small dogs. So I retained my protection from my prior car for the back seats and doors; as well as a netting to block their access to the front seats. That being said, the plastic will be scratched. But the Mav is a Fing truck not a Caddy; so live with it or get a different vehicle.

I paid $23,339 OTD for the '23 XL model Hybrid. Definitely worth it for what I want in a truck. Would I buy a luxury trim version of this cheap truck? Hell no.
All the extra gadgetry is just more shit to go wrong, and more trips to the dealer.
And the recycled plastic used for the trim pieces is definitely not very durable, if scratches are a concern for you.

Maverick owner since Feb. 2023. Close to 13,000 miles. I use it for work as well as recreational. The interior is holding up well. If fact the 2022 Bronco 2 door has more scuffs in the interior than the Maverick. I ordered the Maverick in 2021 and having a Hybrid truck with so much function with a base price of 19,998 was an incredible deal.

I heard the same stories as well before my purchase and cringed everytime something smacked into the interior finishes. I quickly lost the cringe when I realized it takes a really sharp and hard hit to damage the interior. The interior has held up really well. I haul a lot of stuff in the bed and inside cab for work. Often both are filled.

Thanks for all the input. Kinda had a sit down talk with my other half and we discussed the positives and negatives about the Mav.

I decided I'm going to pass on my order when it comes in.

I think what ultimately got me was the raise in price VS quality and some missing features I want. I was just so excited to finally be able to get a order in that I didn't really stop and think if the Mav was still a good fit for me with the changes Ford has been making the past few years. When I take a step back and look at what the Mav is, it doesn't make sense to me personally anymore with the price increases. The 24's are also missing some features I wanted like the sliding rear window.

Ultimately getting into a Mav would be a step backward for me compared to what I've been driving the past few years. I think if the Mav was like sub $30K with the features I want like it used to be, I could be on board. But now they're in the mid $30K's for even less features, it just isn't sitting well with me.

It's been fun pursuing the forums, excellent group.

If anyone is looking for a 24 XLT with fx4, 4K tow and lux package in silver in IA, let me know and I can keep you posted on when it ships. Should be in late Feb, early March.

Granted you are driving much more than I but I have negligible scratching at that area. I hold the belt after I unbuckle as it retracts rather than just let it sling back.

Have a Porsche Cayman S and have had the plastic door panels off on the Porsche and the Maverick to install some wiring...and the Porsche leather seats are of a higher quality over the Maverick, but the plastic door, dash panels, etc. seem to be of exactly the same quality plastic...can't do much with plastic. BUT the plastic in both cars are not getting scratched up like so many on this site are having...I do tend to take care of the interior. My Mav is not a work truck, just haul stuff in the bed occasionally. People using the Mav as a daily work truck or with kids and dogs are going to scratch the plastics. Most new vehicles in the past 10 years are going to have plastic interior panels.

For the Maverick, I added nice, padded seat covers off Amazon for roughly $100, and Weathertech look-a-like floor mats. The Maverick is a truck so most customers buying a Maverick tend to use it as a truck. The Maverick is so much more comfortable to drive than the Cayman S so it is now my daily driver. The Maverick is a real winner in my book.

I'm confident I will be replacing the Maverick in 1 or 2 years with another Maverick Hybrid.

I won't even mention 42 mpg.

The interior plastic in my Lariat has the durability of Play-Doh. I can easily scratch it with my fingernail. Knowing this, I'm just careful about how I treat it; it is what it is. The Mav is still the single best vehicle for my purpose.

I am on my 2nd year WITH a dog and the interior looks exactly the same as the day I picked it up, except for nose prints on my windows!!!!!!!! It is very strong and resistant to anything!!! ENJOY
