To me, the biggest problem with the report (Costs of Fueling EVs and ICE Vehicles) is that the authors seem to calculate costs as if people buy an ICE vehicle or an EV randomly -- regardless of the use they plan to make of it. (There are other problems... see the other linked article.)

The authors may think this all averages out. But I don't think it does, for a simple reason. People who would be as burdened by an EV as the report predicts aren't that likely to buy one.

Example:
-- If I had to drive an EV 10 miles to charge it every 4th day -- as the report assumes even those with home chargers will do -- I wouldn't get an EV.
-- But my EV would be an "around town" vehicle that would very seldom need commercial charging -- and there are 16 charging stations on FordPass within 1.5 miles of my house -- so I might get one.
