Blue Sea 12 Volt Panel

Hi all!

So I saw the above video on YouTube showing how this individual wired and mounted a 12 volt Marine accessory panel in one of the Cubbies in the bed. My question is about weather proofing the wires as the cubby is open to the elements on the XL. Does anyone have any thoughts on weather or not this would work long term? There is another one that is a Nilight brand, but I am not sure it is designed for water, ice, snow, or whatever I may put in the bed.

If it is wired properly it will be completely fine. This would primarily mean using outdoor rated fittings and shrink tubing. A little silicon grease after would keep moisture out for decades. For ease of shopping you can look for anything that is truly Marine rated and it will survive the weather.

I just completed installing one in my truck. I soldered the contacts and used heatshrink. I plan to check it from time to time and see how it is handling moisture and all that. The thing cost $15...not a serious investment or anything.
I suppose I could get a can of insulating foam and mummify the entire wiring mess on the back side of the plate. That would keep it safe and sound for quite a while.

I plan on doing the same to my XL and I had the same concern. I decided to order the cubby that comes with the XLT so the wiring won't be exposed to the elements.
