I wanted some bed lighting but I couldn't find a kit that I liked. So I made my own. I purchased the Nilight TR-05 kit and a generic on/off rocker switch and made my own kit. I cut off the connectors and used butt connectors.

I wanted to have both sides on one switch so I ran the right side underneath the bed alongside the other harnesses. The light strips are 60 inches, so I just tucked the excess in the channel which houses the pre-wired bed power.

As shown in the video, I used the 2-1 splitter from the Nilight kit (but used butt connectors instead of theirs) to join the two light strips. I then spliced the pigtail with the factory connector to the "1" side of the splitter.

I used spad connectors to join the pigtail to the "lighting harness". The positive side connects directly to the "harness". The negative side of the pigtail connects to the switch. On the other side of the switch is the negative side of the "harness".

I used a rotary tool (commonly referred to as a Dremel) to cut out the center of the pigtail holder and mounted the switch in it.

I am very happy with the outcome. I think it is very clean and looks as if it's supposed to be there.

Here are the links to the Nilight kit and the rocker switches.

You will need to buy the spade connectors, butt connectors and heat shrink separately.

Looks good, I also might do the same. How is the LED strip mounted, I see there’s an angle to it.

It has sticky tape on the back. I cleaned the paint with brake clean and a microfiber.

Most of the way along the bed there is a flat surface to mount it to. Once I got close to the back (where the switch is mounted) I simply left the backing on the rest of the sticky tape and stuffed the remainder of the light strip into the channel in which the wiring for the switch is. (There is a hole which is directly in-line with the light strip.)

Looks great and very helpful when you need better vision especially during fall and winter. (Gets darker earlier). Having a Lariat, I was able to do the same lighting and used the existing switch in the bed. Great idea of Ford to run 12v capability to the bed. The Maverick never fails to impress me with its ability to modify and customize.

I know, I keep forgetting to take a video when it's dark outside. It will come though, be patient. 🙏

I’m looking for a location to mount a switch and considered using that same spot as you did, my one concern is snagging it when loading or removing something from the bed.

Yeah, you'll just have to be careful. It is pretty low profile but it obviously sticks out more than just the blank panel.
