Since I’m not on the dealer end of things. Barring any network issues, internet failures, etc…

How long does it take, on average, to input an order in the system prior to COVP signage, for a customer that has everything in order- meaning know questions or bs, “just give me x-y-z”

I’m gonna say 10 minutes based on a phone call with a reputable dealer in Alabama who’s sale person put my order in while I was on the phone. Then promptly text me photos of all the paper work- btw couldn’t pull the trigger because they wanted a 500 deposit, a benji sure, but not 5 of them.

Took me about 20 minutes with everything. Signing, scanning my license, etc got a confirmation email within that time frame as well.

How long for the dealer to do it if they have everything in front of them? Maybe 30-60 seconds. No joke. Ford Video Guy did a couple live on YouTube a few days ago. He was talking us thru it the entire time, and even with him going slow and turning his camera on and off to protect the more sensitive customer info, it took no time at all.

Now this is not including the drivers license or uploading any documents, etc.. Just the entry of the initial order to get a timestamp in the system. I would think "doing" the COVP/ROVP would take maybe an additional 1-2 minutes if the filing system for those scans was efficient and they did not have to search around their computer for the drivers license photo, etc...

In 21 when I ordered my 22 it was done within 30 minutes over about 5 emails back and forth. Probably would have been 5 minutes if I had gone to the dealer in person. It does not take very long so long as the person ordering knows exactly what they want.

If an average dealer can have one or two people just inputting orders, they should be able to enter 50-100 orders per day easy I would think. I still can't believe the amount of dealerships I've reached out to locally that are straight up ghosting me. They're great on initial contact but not one will commit to MSRP and actually place an order today or Monday. One dealership has assured me my order will go in within one or two weeks as they have all my info... that same dealer doesn't believe me when I called today to tell him order banks won't be open longer than a week. Really wish @Granger Ford was up and running taking orders, or at least I wish more dealers were as transparent and up front like them. I just can't believe this mess. Glad to have a 22 but there's virtually no way of me ordering a 23 at this point if I can't find a dealer to trust let alone one who will respond!

My dealer said they put my order in when the bank opened. Now 36 hrs later? No email nothing yet. Even went into the dealer. Zero answer just said sorry our guy is still putting in the orders. Re scanned my DL. If no email comes off hunting for another dealer. June 1st was my original order date. Dealers are wack

Does anyone have contact info - direct - to long mcarthur.

Thank you for reading what I wrote. That’s what I was thinking. So this overwhelming number of orders to input at the highest volume dealer isnt really more than a few hours for severa people?

The covp can come later from what I understand, but they can get your order in and hand off to a second bank of people to handle covp paperwork right?

Right. I think it would be a really, really sucky few hours for those people, and I feel like it if were me I would end up slowing down and making more mistakes as the hours went on, but it could be done at a quick pace if the customer order specs, email, name, address were all in an easy spot to cut and paste from. I think if they are manually typing the name and address and email, that's going to take longer.

COVP/ROVP can be done later.

To think, Ford, the pioneer of the assembly line…. He’d shit a brick current day if he knew how horribly inefficient this all it

I dropped off my print out from the website (granted 2022 build) said this is what I want, gave the deposit and license signed and out the door in less than 10 minutes. They don't have a lot of time as people are backing up in show rooms to order. Got my email from the deal later that evening and one from Ford a few hours later.

My dealership says they have put my order into the order bank... I have not received an email from ford yet. I phoned them they said ford has to confirm the order before I get the email and ford had to do everyone.

True or false?

It took me 30 minutes exactly start to finish. Handed in what I wanted (XLT, luxury and black appearance package) when I walked in, got the pre-sales offer once the order banks opened up (MSRP, no mark up), signed it then back to the desk to submit the order along with driver license copy, contact info, etc. Once the order was placed finished up with the cashier asking $750 deposit and walked out.

Probably the least painful car buying experience I've encountered to date, will see if it holds at delivery. Probably helped that all the info posted here let me know exactly what I wanted and the price I was willing to pay before walking in the dealer.

Ford email came in the next day.
