I purchased a https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019Z3RFGY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
Rockville 8" self powered subwoofer.
I also purchased a plug and play front speaker system https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DWF6NBY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I'm not documenting that, as many before already have. I do highly recommend them though, as they are inexpensive, a big improvement and a direct replacement.
I researched an found a company who could a supply a break out harness that could supply the high level inputs to the subwoofer for both the left and right speakers without splicing into the factory wiring harness.
2022 Ford Maverick Factory Base Model NON B & O NON Amplified Radio Plug 'n Play Audio Harnesses: Kits
KIT 6 LC2I HARNESS ONLY 17FT
1 $95.
The process involved cutting off the bottom angled parts of the behind the back seat factory mount. I taped the remaining four mounting bosses to accept 8/32 taper head screws. (they come without threads from the factory)
I made a paper template as shown, as the mounting bosses are NOT symmetrical. I transferred the template to the 1/2" plywood. If I did this over again I would use 1/4" polypropylene, as it's thinner profile may keep the subwoofer from touching the back seat when it's in it's upright position.
This thing is VERY impressive for the price. I ended up turning down the gain, volume and frequency response to their lowest level on the subwoofer and still had to turn down the base on the factory Ford radio settings down to about 40% to get the sound to balance out for my liking.
I also turned down the back speakers to about 25% to keep them from distorting at volume. (I did not replace the back speakers)
I'm in a total for about $400.00, all included.
It's a night and day differences and now it leaves me no longer wanting for a better sound system.
