I'm okay with the delay.

I knew when I ordered the hybrid that it would be a long wait. I've been watching The forums and reading everything I can find since early summer of 2022. In the beginning I was anxious and hopeful that I would be scheduled early after my September 16th order was placed.

Now I think I would be a little bit frightened if I was scheduled today. The low speed brakes, the squeaky windshield and the shudder that is looking more and more like a rivet .. spring... flywheel issue. I've even read about head gasket concerns related to the Atkinson Toyota design. I would be fine if these were all resolved and tested long before I am scheduled.

I am fortunate to have a reliable vehicle and would be critical of a Maverick with the above issues. I want something as dependable as my Camry with the conveniences of the Maverick.

It's disheartening to read about Ford's failures on this forum. And yes, I understand that it's the vocal few that come to the forums to complain. So I've convinced myself that the waiting is necessary and to my benefit.

Playing Devil's Advocate: What if you have a very long wait (year or more) and those issues still haven't been corrected when you get yours?

I'm glad that you've found justification for waiting patiently for your Maverick hybrid to be delivered. But to continue HolyCarp's "devil's advocate" approach:

What if you got your Maverick Hybrid right away, and experienced NONE of those issues? How would you feel then? You'd probably feel a lot like I feel about mine...

I bought a '22 Maverick Hybrid First Edition (Lariat/Lux), with a build date 6/28/22 as a "hedge" against not getting one (or even both) of the two Hybrids I have on order for '23. Aside from the Air Bag Recall (completed just before I bought it), I've had zero issues with mine, and have loved every mile I've driven in it. I realize that I'm just one person, but there are lots of other hybrid owners who share my same "no issues" experience with their Maverick hybrids. We're just not as vocal about our experience, for fear of coming off as "fan-boys" (or girls)...

But one real comment on your post: I have no idea where you heard about "Atkinson Toyota" head gasket design, nor about such an issue relating to the Maverick Hybrid... The Maverick's Atkinson-cycle engine was derived from a Mazda design (Ford Escape / Mazda Tribute), and has been incredibly reliable (as proven by studies of Escape and C-Max hybrids used in taxi service in NYC with millions of miles driven). The Mazda Atkinson-cycle engine was named one of the 10 best engines multiple years in a row.

Design provenance aside, your post was the first I ever heard of a "head gasket" concern with the hybrid engine. There were some well-publicized issues with older versions of the Ecoboost engine, but those issues were resolved years ago – and have nothing to do with the hybrid's ICE. I'm pretty sure there is no "head gasket" issue with the Hybrid.

Good luck with your order. I hope it comes when the timing is "right" for you... As for me, I'll take my hybrid orders tomorrow, please!

Mavericks coming off of the assembly line just 2 months ago have the same windshield rattle as my Lariat that came off the assembly line in October of 2021.

Don't hold your breath. Waiting doesn't mean quality will go up.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Mr Parker. I enjoyed reading your responses and felt like I need it to provide you with a link to my Atkinson engine comment. I went back and found it and it's pretty weak but at least shows you where I got it from.

I have the same mindset as you. With that said, I did talk at length to a guy in a parking lot the other day who has a 22 Hybrid XL. He has had it since last May. I think he said it only had @7K miles on it.
He has had zero issues and nothing but praise. So much so that he has another 23 on order.

One more - I am going to have a perfect marriage ........ when I have kids, we will never disagree ........ Amazon would never loose a package ........ Contractors always are on time ......... post. In the real world mass produced items aren't prefect and that's why they give you a warranty and have "service centers" .

Guess what ? The truck you eventually buy ( if you get one at all ) will have SOMETHING wrong with it within the warranty period - welcome to the cold cruel world. You WILL be disappointed with your expectations of perfection in manufacturing.

Wow Redneck, angry much?

I didn't think I was coming off as a whiner. Everything you're saying is true. Just trying to help myself deal with the stress of not getting this truck right away.

And as we all know, only our wives are perfect.

No Anger - I get the Tom Petty reference " The Waiting Is The Hardest Part" but all I'm saying is when you post things like " Now I think I would be a little bit frightened if I was scheduled today " or " It's disheartening to read about Ford's failures " - It confuses me - Do you want to get scheduled or not ? I would take a new Maverick with a blown motor knowing hey - they have to fix it under warranty. "So I've convinced myself that the waiting is necessary and to my benefit. " Tell yourself whatever it takes to feel better I suppose but the thousand trucks built before yours and the thousand after will pretty much be the same quality.
