My 2022 hybrid Maverick will be idle since I will be away for 2 weeks. What is the best way to keep the 12 V battery from getting drained? In the previous year, I went away for a week & it had no issues when I came back. However , 2 weeks may be too long. Will it prevent a battery drain if I assign a friend to start & warm up the car engine without driving the truck ?

I don't beleive that just starting long enough to warm up does much for the battery long term. The BMS does not allow it to charge enough in that period of time to help, IMO. How it actually will do really depends on the current state of your 12v battery. Is it still the original? Or... have you replaced it, with what and how long ago? I would be afraid that an original battery might not be good enough to be protected by the battery saver system which otherwise should be what you can count on. Can you put it on a trickle charger? Even a solar charger on the dash connected to the under hood points would give me piece of mind with the original battery.

Doesn't even need to warm the engine.

Just Start it and let it sit for about 15-20 min.
Majority of charge will be in 10-15 min anyway.
Maybe the ICE will run - just depends.

But now you've just woken it, and the 75 min to go back asleep will probably use more power than just staying asleep.

Put it into deep sleep mode yourself if concerned - pull fuse 11. Hopefully get lower than 58 mA in sleep mode.
Don't lock doors so it won't do BMS relearn efforts.

After 236 days below (over 365 actually, I did BMS reset for attempted help - failure), only 4 Ah in sleep mode (that's after the 75 min), compared to 24 Ah during all the up to 75 min chunks - and I'm not doing a ton of short trips daily to make a ton of 75 min chunks.

The 12 V battery was replaced early this year due to an issue with the high voltage cable.

Boy I’d like to hear Fords explanation for that one. HV cable, 12 volt Battery, didn’t know they could be linked in such a way.

I would think, assuming they replaced it with the slightly upgraded 470(?) CCA battery and you are not showing constant deep sleep symptoms, that the actual battery saver will detect the period of inactivity and prevent your battery from deep parasitic drain. I would have a jump pack just in case.

If it were me I would just go on my trip and enjoy myself and not worry about my truck. If it's dead when you get back, jump it with the battery pack you should keep in it all the time. Everyone should have one that jumps cars and inflates tires. They are worth every penny!

For what it’s worth…………
In late May I left my truck alone. Twenty days later I got a battery saver notice online. Stayed away until late August.
Came home, started it up, went about my business. No problem since.
Original battery in my ‘22 Lariat, non-lux hybrid.

Ya, being a '22 the issue was probably the 12V battery cable recall problem.

Except too late for the free recall.

If you are willing to jump through all those hoops, why not just disconnect the black 12v negative battery cable?
