I'm planning to install an auxiliary battery under the seat of my XLT Ecoboost. I have the Renogy 100 Ah LiFePo self-heated battery (LINK). My idea to mount the battery was to use something like this Camco Standard Battery Hold-Down Tray (LINK) (I don't think this exact one would actually fit the battery, but it illustrates what I would use). I could use some 3M adhesive on the bottom of the tray and also shoot some rivets through the mount holes and into the plastic under seat storage liner.

Any of you creative people out there have a better suggestion?

I have no useful input to offer, just curious what you'll be using this for and how you'll recharge it.

I intend to charge off the alternator using a Renogy DC/DC Charge Controller. Maybe down the line I'll add solar panels as well, but right now I'm just planning on weekend trips so I don't think they'll be necessary for that.

The battery will be used to power things like a water pump (for quick showers, hosing off bikes, etc.), a refrigerator, fans for my RTT in summer, a heated mattress pad in winter, etc.

Yeah pretty much any battery tray that will fit your battery without being too big. Im doing the same thing but am thinking about smaller narrow batteries possibly 2 of them and building a mount for em inside the bedsides. Then run a panel on my cap and my fridge in the bed.

Inside the bedrails would be a really slick install! You could utilize one of the cubby panels instead of going through the cap if, for example, you had a tonneau cover that took up the caps.

Personally, I think I'm gonna want the battery to be more accessible for changes/upgrades in the future so bedside cavities aren't the best option for me.
