Tried the remote start for the first time today. Everything worked fine but when I approached the truck I could hear a fairly loud whine coming from the A/C. The noise is loud enough to be concerning but doesn't sound catastrophic and doesn't really intrude into the cab when the windows are closed. I'm not sure whether the noise is just a feature of the electric drive or maybe I have a problem brewing. If everyone else hears a whine on their truck I can accept that it is ok, otherwise I'll take it back to the dealership.

This is not something I’ve experienced. You may want to have the dealer check your catalytic converter since you remote started.

Thanks for the suggestion. The combustion engine didn't start, the A/C was running off the battery, so I doubt that the cat is an issue. Given that your truck doesn't make a loud whining noise with only the A/C running then it seems I might have an issue with the A/C. I'll take it back to the dealership.

My ac, especially when the fan is on high, is incredibly loud when the engine isn’t running. I assume it’s just as loud on a normal engine but it goes unnoticed with engine and fan noise. I too have an XLT Hybrid and have not been concerned at all.

My CMax has always been noisy, for almost ten years now. It was originally thought that noise occured due to inadequate freon fill. Dealer said "never heard of that" in fact he also said he could barely hear the noise despite it sounding like a weedwacker under the hood.

Get used to it. Dealer won't fix it.

The electric compressor is very loud. Not much different than a window unit if you stand outside next to it. Can't be insulated since they need to breathe to stay cool.
