Hi all,

I received my Maverick last week (Cactus Gray, BAP, Hybrid) and I am looking to get some winter wheels/tires.

It looks like the BAP wheels are 18x7 with 5x108 bolt pattern, with an offset of +37.5mm.

So my question as I look at other wheels - Escape, Bronco Sport, Aftermarket. What do I have to worry about? I know the bolt pattern is important but I don't know enough about offset and width to know if I should be watching out for that or not.

Any recommendations on good substitutes?

If you're in an area that uses salt in Winter, then get the XL steelies or the aftermarket equivalent. Maybe paint them black if you like the BAP look. The clorine in wet salt eats aluminum and magnesium rims very quickly. A rusted steel rim can be cleaned up easily, but a corroded aluminum rim is junk.

Okay, so I think I narrowed in on some Bronco Sport Outer Bank Rims.

They match the BAP specs with being 18x7 with 5 x 108 bolt pattern and having the same offset at 37.5mm.

I saw people commenting on the lugs being different. If I were to buy Maverick lugs, does that solve my problem? I'd think so but want to confirm I was not thinking incorrectly.

WHY choose 18 inch wheels for snows. The tires cost more with zero benefit. Get 17 inchers. Plus don't get wide tires narrow is better in the snow.
Just my ignorance to all this, I could do 17in but was thinking keeping everything the same from a dimensions perspective would make the TPMS better(?).

+1.
If I was picking up winters, I'd either look on marketplace and find something local that is cheap, or I'd buy 17" over 18" if given a choice.

Yes you want to keep the over all diameter of the tire the same. They do this with larger wheels by having less sidewall on tire with larger wheels. Which in my opinion on a truck looks awful. Plus the ride is noticeably worse. Plus larger wheels the tire cost more. The Original equipment 18 inch setup from ford is 28.6 over all diameter of tire while the 17 is almost the exact same at 28.5 . So for snow tires get 17 inch wheel tire combo. Unless you find some used 18 inch rims cheap BUT remember you will pay more for the tires in 18 inch.

TPMS has nothing to do with the wheel size, just the tire pressure thus T(ire)P(ressure) M(onitoring) S(ystem). I put Blizzak W90, I got a great deal on them, on stock XL rims on my XLT last winter. You will need to get another set of TPMS sensors for the steel rims. Smart move getting winter tires IMHO

I understand what TPMS is but I was reading concerns about recalibrating the system to smaller wheels but that concern seems to be unfound.

RE: "Recalibrating for smaller wheels" The wheel size doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. And even if it did, you would make up for that by using taller tires.
