If you choose the same diameter, you should have similar results.

BUT...you will find that tire width has a lot more to do with fuel mileage than you would think.
Then check the tires rolling resistance. That alone dropped the fuel mileage on my hybrid Ford Cmax 3 mpg! Took those tires back, they told me they were Eco/low rolling resistance and they were not.

Anybody put 19's or 20's on thier Hybrid? What your mpg? I'm getting 34-35 on the stock XLT 17's. I know it's going to go down just want to know how much I can expect to lose.
I run 20x9 wheels wrapped in 245/45/20 tires and guess-timate i dropped 2-3 mpg.
I think I hover right around the EPA estimate of 40mpg (optimistic cluster reading - no hand math).

Original setup: stock 225/65/17 XLT aluminum carb grey wheels
Driving habbits have not changed since I purchased the Mav - 90% street/stop&go.

Based on your opinion, do you think this same tire but OEM size would still lose MPGs? Maybe less than what you lost? I am new to trucks lol
I lost no milage by going up one size up the tires I have on my Hybrid are 235/65/17 off a Maverick eco lariat FX4 or power .

Just curious. My Maverick hybrid rides nicely and quietly on stock tires. 45 mpg. Why the need for bigger tires? Not a smart a— question. Just curious.

Appearance - Larger wheels/tires fill the wheel well better and look better to many people's eyes. Plus, some people just like the look of more aggressive tires.

Performance - Some people need the added traction of an All Terrain or snow rated tire.

Ride Quality - Bumping up the width also increases the sidewall height, which helps out with the ride quality. This is actually why I went with narrower, taller tires on my Touareg. The stock tires were fantastic on flat pavement, with excellent grip and turning capability, but very jarring when going over any sort of imperfections in the road.

Use tire size calculator.

Look at the revolutions per mile, factor in the weight of the wheels and tires and rolling resistance... Similar MPG no matter what size wheel/tire you chose if those things are similar. Compare their tire sizes to your 19s or 20s (which still is very vague information) and there ya go...

245/65R17 vs. 245/45/20:

Stock size:

Compare the size YOU want, because there is more to it than just vague "19/20", to the stock size you are replacing.

Does anyone know the weight of the factory 18” BAP wheels? Or the total weight of the wheel and tire combo?
