Several times while braking, I have felt a jolt on the vehicle. Usually the brakes feel slightly weakened after that. Today, I had a runaway engine on start up and quickly shut it off. I restarted the engine and all was normal. It seemed as though the dash and radio were dark when I pressed start and quickly shifted to D. That's when the engine rpm went berserk like nearly 6,000 RPM. I believe the system glitched. 2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD.

The jolt could be from coming to a stop as the regenerative braking has the EV battery fully charged, and the system is rapidly trying to transition to engine braking and brake pads.
Several folks have noted this happening to them and it's said to be normal.

I've seen reports of the engine race on startup, which can happen (apparently) when the EV battery is low, and/or the vehicle is COLD, although that's never happened to me.

I've had a low battery condition at startup and cold start conditions where Max Defrost is commanded. Both request a high idle close to 2,000 RPM and typically only for a brief period. Certainly not what I experienced at close to 6,000 RPM. That's a straight up malfunction!
