My Maverick is a 2025 XLT Hybrid. I picked it up New Year’s Eve, and have just short of 7k miles. Overall, so far I am happy, but I don’t understand, no claims to being very tech savvy, the HVAC system. I completely admit to being old school on some features. For instance I reprogrammed the auto high beam system. Anyway, is there a way to stop the AC from coming on when I just want fresh air from the ventilation system? The AUTO feature for the HVAC is off I believe. The three small lights below the AUTO are off. However, if I go to turn the blower/fan on the AC comes on? Also, a lot of times when I start the truck, even if the blower and AC are off before I shut the ignition off the AC comes on. I do have the the temperature setting at the bottom/lowest point. Is this causing it? But if it is, is there a way to stop it from working in Auto mode? Earlier in the day I just want cool fresh air not AC. My 2017 F150 didn’t do this. I have checked everything in the menu to see if there’s a way to change this, again no claims to being tech smart, but I can’t figure it out. Is it the end of the world to just turn the AC off? No, but it’s annoying. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ford thinks you won't turn on the a/c if you need to drop humidity levels inside to prevent fogging, so it does it for you.

My 24 does the same as did my 2020 Escape Titanium. Just a pain in the ass to shut it off all the time (even in the winter here in the NorthEast). lol

Always comes on here too, regardless of previous settings or outside temperature.

It's protecting the people that couldn't figure out they needed to enable AC/defrost to windshield even with the heat on, to prevent moisture on the inside of the windshield, which if cold enough could frost on the inside.

Seen it too many times.
Windshield scrapers don't do so well on inside curve of glass, and of course these people couldn't find like a CC or stiff plastic to make more than a basic eye hole to drive with.

So thank the goof balls driving dangerously, actually for many systems on current cars.

Once again, engineers doing the thinking for the consumer. How lucky we are!
I want to control the stuff in my vehicle myself. I want A/C when I push A/C and fresh air when I push, pull, toggle, or manipulate something that says "ventilation". I don't need some pinhead at Ford making these decisions for me. The friggin' audio system is the same way!
Thank goodness the windows still open!

For years the fact that AC was turned on automatically when you selected Defrost always bothered me, mainly because when I rode with 1 friend who knew that - they'd turn it to cold also thinking that was required, even with the feet/defrost split in use.
Freeze the place out in cold rainy weather.
Kept sneaking the lever to heat hoping they wouldn't notice.
