I remember the old v8's with cast iron exhaust manifolds. They would sometimes get a hairline crack or a stud would break or the gasket would leak. You'd start it up and it would tick, very mechanical sounding like a lifter, and as it warmed up the cast iron would swell enough the sounds would go away.

Eventually it wouldn't go away, and you'd finally figure out it wasn't a lifter after all. I seem to remember the Chevy 454 was good for that problem.

Yeah, those sounds can be real head scratcher sometimes.
Thanks for mentioning this. I haven’t heard that sounds in 30 years. It brought back memories of my brother’s completely junk, big block f350 that he bought for $1,000.

For a followup, today’s ambient 67 deg F. Drove truck over same highway as earlier notice of rumble, vibration. No rumble! No vibes! Everything sounds n feels normal. Checked tire pressure, most in 32-34 psi range.

Must be a cold weather phenomenon?

Oil life register as 14%. Will pull sample, mail it in. Planning an oil change next 7-14 days. Have to decide if want blend or synthetic stuff.

2023 maverick tremor with 30000 been getting a rattled noise , give it gas noise builds with ram let off gas noise drops. After truck is warmed up it seems to go away. Noise seems from behind driver side engine compartment. Any thoughts

Look at exhaust system. When it gets hot everything expands and tightens up. Shake it when it's cold.

I'm sorry: 27 degrees Fahrenheit? What is that? -2c? YOU TELL US, YOU SEEM TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT NOTHING. That's not very cold. THIS IS SUBJECTIVE. There's really no need for anything to warm up. YEP, JUST GET IN A LET HER RIP. What is a heat soak? A WARM UP, BUT WE KNOW YOU ALREADY KNEW THIS. That's absurd. (sorry, eh?) < THIS PURE CANADIAN GIBBERISH...

We have weather of -33 to -40c here and I've never heard of such a thing. YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF COMMON SENSE OR HUMILITY EITHER. Whatever you're thinking needs to happen to warm things up at -2c just doesn't....that's....strange... SO IS BEANS AND TOAST FOR BREAKFAST, BUT WE ARENT TELLING YOU HOW STUPID YOU ARE.

Please, take it from someone who has been driving in an A COLD CLIMATE, JUST A, NOT AN. (actually) cold climate for four decades. None of that is necessary or even makes sense. BEING A JERK DOES NOT MAKE SENSE EITHER.

As for rumbling, sorry I can't help with that. NOTHING ABOUT THIS SLANDEROUS POST IS HELPFUL.A mild chill in the air shouldn't cause that with any vehicle. Hell, that's not even normal with the temperatures we have up here. I really don't think it's temperature related, and if you want to talk about cold weather driving, I'm your guy. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT NO ONE HERE THINKS YOU'RE THE LADY TO ADDRESS ANYTHING.(not that you're driving in the cold - you're not). And, no, -2c will not affect the shift points in your transmission. My coworkers and I had a good laugh about that. (again, sorry, eh?) YES, I IMAGINE YOU ALL SAT AROUND SNIFFING YOUR GLUE BOTTLES, AND LICKING THE WINDOWS WHILE BEING GREAT HUMANS.
YOU'RE WELCOME... EH?

The driveshaft failed on my 22 mav, was causing a rumbling sound when going over 60 kph was more pronounced in cold weather. It was replaced under warranty.
