No it actually should work You may try putting a new battery in it
Thanks,

I went and tried the new fob again and I noticed that the LED on the fob flashes every time I touch the door handle, and after many touches, I found that the Intelligent Access will work about 1 in every 10 to 20 tries. I just checked the battery and it shows 2.9volt so it may be a bit low, I'll try it with a new battery.

New battery didn't make a difference, I may return it and try a different one since the Intelligent Access is the main thing I wanted. My plan was to remove the case and key and just heat shrink the PCB to make a nice slim fob rather than carrying the giant Ford fob in my pocket.

That is an awesome idea. Please let us know how it works out. I hate how huge the Mav FOBs are.

I've requested a replacement fob, hoping that I just got a bad one and that the replacement will work correctly with Intelligent Access. The design of this particular fob is perfect for what I want to do since the battery holder is soldered right on the PCB unlike the others where the battery holder is part of the plastic case. I should have the replacement Friday, fingers crossed it works correctly.

Replacement fob acted just like the first, Buttons work, Intelligent Access, not so much. So, I returned for a refund and ordered a different one off Ebay that has a different PCB design (based on the pictures) in hopes it works correctly with Intelligent Access.

Now the new problem, I received the Ebay fob yesterday, tried to add it to my truck this morning and got a message that the max number of keys has been reached. So now I'm stuck with my original two keys and can't add a third since the two extra spots were used up by the two bad keys that have been returned!

Is there any way to remove keys or am I stuck with an expensive trip to the dealer to reprogram?

Went to the dealer today and had them clear the saved keys then add back my two originals plus the one from eBay, which thankfully works correctly with intelligent access. They charged $75 plus tax which I payed with Ford Pass points. It took them an extra 20 minutes because it was their first Maverick and they couldn't find the programming location (bottom of the center console under the felt) and rather than ask me they looked through my owner's manual and had several people looking.

I now have the cheap key stripped down to the PCB with the battery attached, I'll start a new thread with pictures of it.

Has anybody gotten this procedure with this key to work on a 2024 model year?

I have a hybrid XL and when I follow those steps the dash just says something like "key programming failed."
I have a 2023 Hybrid XL. I bought a key like you posted, along with another key which has the fob/buttons on it and took both to a local mobile locksmith yesterday. She successfully cut the metal "key" part and then checked to make sure they fit the door, the tailgate and the ignition.

I followed the programming procedure @Redneck Garage posted and it worked perfectly. @mp24, this should work on a '24 model, too - It's unlikely there were any changes in the keys/fobs for '24 model year.

Many thanks to @Redneck Garage! You saved me a bunch o' money and a trip to the Ford stealership an hour away, who might not even want to bother with programming keys they didn't sell me.

Do you know what kind of key making machine the locksmith used? Both my local locksmith and @Redneck Garage said you need the key code to make sure the duplicate key is cut correctly.

I don't know what kind of machine she used but it was on her van. She asked me for the year, make & model of the truck and she first looked up some code. I also had a slip of paper on the keyring that came with the OEM keys, which had a 5-digit code & barcode on it. But I don't know if she used that or not.

She initially cut a cheap "test" key she had, that didn't have a chip or fob, to see if it would open the tailgate and driver's door, which it did. Then, she cut the fob key & chip key. I programmed those using @Redneck Garage's instructions and they programmed perfectly.

Thanks, what did she charge?

She charged $75 to meet me at a parking lot and cut the two keys. She also gave me the metal test key. It won't start the truck of course, but it will open the doors If I somehow managed to lock my regular key in the truck.

I ran over one of my fobs but still have my spare and now a backup FOB-less “key” that won’t start the car. How do I get a new FOB?
