HELP, I ordered the two basic keys through your listing, got them cut and tried several ways to program. They did not work. I get a Key Program Error, and a No Key Detected. when you say "turn the ignition key on", do you mean first click, second click or spring loaded start/ready. I tried them all. thanks.

you take your two already programmed keys. put the first one in the ignition and turn until the dash lights come on - do not have your foot on the brake or the truck will "start" count to three after the ignition is on. Take that key out - repeat the same thing for the second programmed key that came with the truck. after removing that one take the first non programmed key and do the same thing - it should program in. Repeat everything else here for the 4th key.

I hit the same issue as you and what fixed it was to make sure I was turning the power off before removing the key and replacing with a new one at each step. Also make sure to do the long press on the last one to program.

You will know you are on the right track if after the second, already programmed key is removed that the truck shows you the factory entry code (lariat) right before you program the new one.

It was slightly finicky so I had to do it multiple times, waiting a good 20 seconds in between attempts. Also make sure your doors are closed.

I don't think his is a Lariat as getting the keys cut makes zero difference. Your description of programming the Fob is spot on !

I had trouble finding a place that could cut them in my town, finally found a locksmith, who happened to be in my area on a service call and I got a discounted price for the "service call" to my residence. $30 plus $15 to cut the key. He had a portable laser key cutter and brought it into my garage and cut it there. Said the machine cost $4,000. It's a somewhat complex process, both sides of course have to be cut, and it takes awhile for the electronic pre-alignment process prior to the cutting.

only thing that would prevent it from programming is the wrong key or a damaged one.

They can cut them but they will not cut a key bought elsewhere. You have to buy the key from them.

To program - open center console. Pull up felt cover - place first existing fob in depression - push start button ( without foot on brake ) ignition comes on- count to 5 - remove fob - push ignition off - put second existing fob in depression - push ignition on - count to five - remove fob - push ignition off. take new fob - put in depression push AND HOLD start button down - you should hear chirp and message - key programming successful.

So I this procedure and it is not programing the key. I get the keypad number after the second, but the new key does not program. How long do I have to hold the start button for the new key? Thanks.

I actually had to do it twice the first time failed - it didn't have to be held that long .

I bought a flip fob for my XL, but the local locksmith was reluctant to cut it. He said the original has a slightly narrower groove than he has a cutter for. He would do it, but wasn't confident on the outcome. Any thoughts?
