How to remove hood lever so you can remove the trim panel behind it?

How do you take off the hood lever so you can remove the trim panel behind it? I haven't been able to figure it out and it is quite irritating. I'm just trying to run some wire from the back to the engine bay and while we're on the topic does anyone know the best way to remove the black part in the second pic with the charging ports? I want to add a couple button switches there and run some wire so I only have to do it once.

I ran my rear dash cam wire down that side. I did not remove that trim piece, I think I just tucked it up underneath with plenty of room.

There is a grommet through the firewall that is perfect to run stuff to the engine bay. That's what I did for my boost gauge. I can get you some pictures in a few.

I ended up fishing it through behind the panel like you said. Got a bit too focused on trying to take that panel off but I'm glad I read your post so I didn't waste so much time.
