Thank you! Like many on here have said, I've always thought the trailer hitch receiver area, the way it comes from the factory, looks really "unfinished." I like the idea of the OEM plastic piece but didn't like the idea of the light plug there in the middle of it. When I first started exploring the idea my original plan was to put it directly below the receiver tube. I wasn't able to pull that off because there is almost no slack in the wiring harness. The way I did it works but I should have moved it another .5" to .75" to the left as where I put it is just a tad tight. It works though.

No problem, I plan to loop the cable over the receiver or, at least, thread the plug through the safety chain loop. That way I can control the amount hanging down and even if it comes unplugged, which I doubt would happen, the plug and wires won't drag on the highway.

As long as we're on the subject of 4-flats, here's a hack I use. I didn't like the OEM spring-loaded door up against the wiring on my trailer plug, but I found a Hopkins #48143 12" long extension that has "wings" to hold the door open.
