Had dealer send out mobile mechanic to do battery recall. He arrived and first question was that if i still had a ford battery from factory. I told him no, and I had changed it out about a year and half ago. The truck left me stranded at a light. He then told me he couldn't do the recall due to the battery changed out, and the recall can't be done. I told him this happen way before the recall was issue. So my question is how do I get the recall closed?

There was one recall awhile back for I believe 22 and 2023 Mavericks with bad batteries from China that they replaced. There is a separate battery issue with multiple SSM's - Support Service Message for Ford Techs where the batteries die do to a parasitic draw when the vehicle is turned off. This issue is on going and many people on here, including myself have stories of having multiple batteries replaced. Ford stated they would have a fix the first quarter of 2025. Ha....no fix yet. If you were under Warranty and replaced the battery yourself without going to the dealer first, it's now your problem. It's there out. I just don't understand why anybody would replace a battery on there dime while under warranty. Some have even resorted to setting up a trickle charger to keep the battery from dieing. Crazy to me. To each his own. There is no way you can close a recall, and why would you want to.

Just ignore it. Maybe keep a record of Ford's response for the next owner if you plan to sell in the next few years.

This happen about a year and half. Battery already out of warranty. Like many things ford's warranty is not that great. Toyota took care of you better on the services. Between Ford and Toyota service and customer service are different. I'm not putting anybody down its just what I notice between the manufacture.

I think that many people replace the battery themselves because they go repeatedly to the dealer who tells them that the battery has an adequate charge (even if they are getting "sleep" messages). The dealer will not change out the battery.

25S02??

These are the tech instructions:

2. Inspect the label located on the top of the 12V battery. Does the label show AGM or does it show EFB or Non-Ford AGM battery?

AGM - Passes inspection. No further action is required.

EFB or Non-Ford AGM battery - Does not pass inspection. Replace the 12V battery. Follow the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures in Section 414-01.

For this recall, if the vehicle does not have a Ford AGM battery in it, it will get a Ford AGM battery.

There's also this special message attached to the recall:
• Update: Please note that aftermarket, EFB and Non-Ford AGM batteries DO NOT pass inspection, and require replacement.

But do you get to keep your old non-Ford AGM battery?

Hmmm, that I can't say for sure.

Technically, Ford could call the battery back for inspection (unlikely, but possible). Dealers are supposed to retain all recall/warranty parts for possible inspection.
So the dealer will probably want to keep it. 99.99% of the time, the battery won't be called back, and will be marked core.

Maybe you could find a dealer that would allow you to take the battery back (after paying them the core charge) after it is marked to be sent for core? Or maybe they won't want to do that because of legal reasons?
