The reviews make the app out to be convoluted, glitchy, and a huge battery drain. Anyone with experience want to come to it's defense? I really want to love it.

Nope, no defense here. Used it on my F250 and F150. It worked but not the best. My FAVORITE app so far was for my RAM 1500.

Oh, Toyota and Subaru suck too!

Thank you for letting us know. I have a couple of questions that you, as someone who has used it before can answer.
1. How well does remote start work?
2. Is there a long term subscription to keep it activated on the truck? I know the hotspot would have a subscription, I mainly just want to know about remote start. I really like the idea of starting the truck before I walk out to it so that the ac has a little time to catch up before I get in. That being said, I HATE paying subscriptions and don't want to get used to something if there's a subscription involved.

Thank you!

Unfortunately I don't haven't had a Ford since 2019. So I'm sure they've made changes to the app since I used it.
The Remote Start worked pretty good.

I believe you have to hit the Lock Button on the app first. Once Locked, you can hit the Remote Start and it will run for a certain amount of time. Then once you get to the vehicle you have to insert key/press start button to start.

Not sure what their timing is but I don't remember any subscription fees.

On my Toyota/Lexus hybrids, the remote start works but doesn't really cool the car down much. Don't really use it much.

Sorry, not much help.

Remote start works fine, I've never had an issue with my Ranger. Just long press the button until it initiates in the app. Takes about 15-20 seconds after that to start up.

There is no subscription cost for the ford pass app either, remote start and unlock are both free.

I also think the app works pretty well on my Ranger. You can see real time details on your vehicle and the remote start is pretty nice. I always have my phone handy and have gotten in the habit of starting with the app right before I'm ready to walk out. It occasionally fails to work but I'd guess 95% of the time, it does work.

You do not have to push the lock button on my Ranger. Just hold down the start button for 2-3 seconds. It automatically locks itself before it starts. If you have the key, you just unlock it and get in. If the key is in the truck (which mine often is), you have to use the app to unlock it before you can get in after remote starting.

And it is free so...
