Plug in your phone via a lightning cable to access Apple CarPlay. Your apps that are available through CarPlay will show up on the screen (Waze, music, Apple Maps etc) I hope that’s what you are looking for.

My F-150 display teases with an “apps” button but it’s not capable of adding apps. Not even navigation, which requires addition of a hardware module despite the fact the truck has location always on via the app.

I gave up on it. There’s a measurable display delay after almost every press or action of dash buttons. These head units are relics, and most mavericks don’t even have Sync4. Android auto/CarPlay & settings are all they’re good for. I don’t even hold out hope for improvement via updates. The components and processing are anemic.

Ford recently hired Doug Field and I expect within 3 years standard head units will be up to speed across Ford’s lineup.

I concur with Carny2411.

It sounds like you may be trying to access the iPhone apps via Bluetooth. If that assumption is correct, the Maverick entertainment system does not support wireless Car Play; it has to be plugged in via USB/lightning cord.

You can buy a Car Play adapter that plugs into Maverick via USB port. The adapter then allows Car Play to work via Bluetooth.

If you already have the iPhone plugged in via the USB port, then perhaps the USB/lightning cable needs to be upgraded ... some of the cheaper cables will not be supported by Car Play.

Good luck!

No it’s not. I’m aware of CarPlay and the apps there. I’m looking for apps to install in the head unit when my iPhone isn’t plugged in, but thanks.

1. no Im not trying to access CarPlay via bluetooth. Im trying the APPS button on the stock head unit and when I press the load apps button it scans and then gives me the message it can't find apps via siriusxm. and Im aware there is no wireless CarPlay in the Mav.
2. Im aware of the options via CarPlay adapters and they all pretty much suck. Ive had a bunch of them and they are usually laggy and not what Im looking for in using CarPlay. plus Im not so lazy that I can't plug in a cable to my phone.
3. Nothing wrong with my cable. when I plug in my phone CarPlay works fine.
but thanks for the input.

From what I understand 🤷‍♂️ , there are only a few apps that will work directly with the Sync 3 system, beyond those, either Apple Car Play or Android Auto has to be involved. According to a google search the apps below work directly with Sync 3

Using SYNC 3 AppLink (Phone-Agnostic):
These apps work directly with SYNC 3 (requires app download and connection):
  • Navigation/Travel: Waze, Glympse, What3Words
  • Music/Radio: Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Tidal
  • News/Weather: NPR, AccuWeather, WSJ
  • Vehicle/Other: FordPass, Domino's, AAA

My (kinda) related question is on a 2025 Lariat with Sync 4, does it come with any of the Sirius apps besides SiriusXM? For instance, my last 3 Fords have had Sirius Travellink and other Sirius apps (weather, sports scores) because I subscribe to that from them. Right now, I only have an icon for the SiriusXM app and wondering if that's a reflection of Sync 4 (first vehicle with it), or the fact that it's running in 90 day trial mode (seems bad marketing to not show all features during a trial period).
Any thoughts?
Yes, I know some of that capability is available through iOS apps and CarPlay (not enough though).
