that's a booby prize....get the last of the 22s which will have less value shortly than 23 models. This isn't a classic car where the first year increases in value of later years.
Have less value....on paper? You tell someone they have to wait 9-12 months for a 23 ordered on 8/2 there will be no discernable diff in value between a 2022 or 2023 on the exact same lot in Dec 2022. They will have the same price.

And who cares what the "paper value is" if you don't sell you arent realizing it anyway.

I care...because I only keep vehicles 1-2 years....AND I am really referring to if someone gets one right at the END of MY22, vs close to the BEGINNING of MY23...

Your 2023 is going to have a pretty hefty price increase over the 2022, so again I ask, why is the 2023 going to be "worth more"??

Mine is 96244, scheduled for August 29.
Why do people put XX on the last 2 numbers?

Mostly because the goal is to see the thousands level. 96244 is cool and all, but mostly folks are looking for the "we are up to 96 thousand with a VIN".

Edit: @theway-yay-ting had a better answer I guess. Haha.

Mostly for privacy reasons. Once the whole VIN is out there on the web, anybody could have access to it.

73xxx originally scheduled for week of 5/30, then moved to 6/6 then moved to 7/4, then moved to 7/25……..now as of email yesterday week of 8/1. Doubt it. Hybrid Lariat Lux ordered 9/15.
Guy above asking about xxx’s makes it more mysterious

Vin #985xx for September 19th build week for hybrid, lux pkg and 360. Very surprised numbers are that high.
At that number and date, they might break 100K by the end of 2022 production!

What could anyone even do with it?

Not much privacy anyhow as having the last two digits unknown isn't much protection.

Not if I have to wait another 6 months or more. All the constraints for MY22 will not be going away anytime soon. The MY23 will be almost identical to MY22 except financing will be much higher.
And maybe color changes.

Nobody could do anything even with the entire number. In my state everyone’s vin is on the registration on the windshield. Dealerships have vins on the window sticker. Not sure why people block license plates either on the photos. 🤷‍♂️
