We've had 'deep sleep' notifications at least monthly over 2 years but never once had issues with the truck starting. The deep sleep notification also shuts off additional 'features' to make sure the 12v has enough juice to fire the computers to start.

Recently we had sporadic issues with the passenger keyless entry working, first time Dealer reset some computer. Second time we took it in they said power was low and replaced original '23 battery with an AGM.

I love the lightweight hood, but it makes me uneasy in that I have to raise and lower it at least once a week to "plug in my hybrid". If I try to baby it when closing it won't latch, and I keep having a visual of slamming it down and having a big dent pop up!
When I permanently attach my charger leads I'll try to adopt one of the solutions that lets me plug in with the hood down.
I have the cable come out at the seam between the hood and the grill. I just tuck it in when it's not in use. It's super easy, barely an inconvenience.

That looks like a good idea - if they ever get the problem fixed there are no holes left in the truck! Have you come up with a good way to remember it's plugged in and not try to drive away with it connected?

I put a piece of pipe insulation on the steering wheel.

Another good idea! With the hood ajar the truck gives you a warning but without something like the pipe insulation I'm pretty sure I'd remember when I heard the sound of the charger hitting the ground!

Unfortunately, I found out it was aluminum when I had a tree limb land on it. Decent size limb, but due to the force coming straight down, also broke the right-side headlight assembly. I thought the initial $2200 damage assessment was pretty costly, but when they agreed that hood couldn't be fixed and found the headlight assembly was also crunched- the total came to over $5200.00 (with all OEM parts). Luckily my car insurance covered it, but that was the tipping point for me to trade it in for a different vehicle.

Aluminum is typically stronger and more rigid than steel.
Also, I think a hood off a wrecked Mav wouldn't be more than $500, and maybe another $250 to paint it to match your color if needed. I understand that with OEM through a dealership disservice center the cost would be 10x as much, though.

Aluminum can be fairly strong, depending on the alloy and heat treat, but I'm guessing they probably used a lower strength alloy with good corrosion resistance and ductility. The stronger alloys are more susceptible to corrosion and can/will crack if you try to form them too drastically.

Wait a minute, let me get this straight: are you really saying that a maverick got damaged without being totaled?

Aluminum is typically stronger and more rigid than steel.
Although I have to hand it to Dodge--that commercial dropping rocks into an F-150 aluminum bed was effective.

I thought that was Chevy not Dodge that did that commercial?

note: I discovered this testing out places to put a hide-a-key magnetic box under the lip of the hood.
So, I’m confused, happens often with me.

Under the lip of the hood, a key box. What about the rear bumper ?

I owned a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT, and the hood was aluminum as well.
