When I first lifted the hood I thought “nice…it’s light”. Grabbed a magnet to check. Yep, aluminum.
Prop rod is steel though. I imagine the aftermarket hydraulic prop rods are “tuned” for the lower weight.

I love the lightweight hood, but it makes me uneasy in that I have to raise and lower it at least once a week to "plug in my hybrid". If I try to baby it when closing it won't latch, and I keep having a visual of slamming it down and having a big dent pop up!
When I permanently attach my charger leads I'll try to adopt one of the solutions that lets me plug in with the hood down.

I'm out of town for a while and attached my battery tender directly to the battery under the rear seat. Where are the jump connections under the hood?

Thanks,

John C

Kind of the opposite of my '72 EldoradoQ

It's a couple of hundred pounds. I've been told (but haven't confirmed) that it's the longest hood Cadillac ever shipped.

One day as I was putting my body weight into lifting it, it occurred to me, "wait a minute--most women were driving in 1972! How did they check oil & water?"

And then it occurred to me: self service wasn't a thing yet!
