Here’s what the rear camera looks like. It’s a small cylinder unit that mounts directly to the inside rear glass (and rotates 360° so you can adjust the angle).

If you decide to pick one up, just make sure to select the front + rear option before checkout.

Sorry for the questions. Does this connect to the front camera?

Yes, it connects to the front camera. There are several videos of maverick owners routing the rear camera cable (with and without a sun roof). Having a sunroof makes it a bit tougher, but should only take 30-45min.

Wow I like this unit. I am not sure I want to do the install though but it looks fairly easy. I wonder if there is a shop locally that would do it? Any recommendations for an install shop? Portland Oregon Metro Area. Thanks,

I am all thumbs and f up almost anything I touch. I did this install myself in less than 30 minutes. I had to do it twice because the power adapter cable was defective. It should be noted that the version I bought was a different supplier but the install is identical.

Go ahead and do it! You got thisšŸ‘

The gps is not needed, but you can just install it right under the mirror trim. There is a small void there that looks like it's for a gps antenna.

Without it, no position/speed meta data is recorded, but everything else functions as it should.
Thanks. My concern would be if someone ran a stop sign and hit me, but my gps data showed I was doing 30 mph in a 25 mph zone, that could be a case for them claiming contributory negligence on my part.

That's a fair point, and it really comes down to personal preference.

As Mike mentioned, the GPS module is completely optional. If you choose not to install it, the dashcam will still record video normally, just without the GPS metadata (speed, location, heading, and time).

Some owners prefer having that extra information available, while others would rather keep the recordings limited to the video itself.

Appreciate Frank sharing his experience! DIYing it really isn't too tricky, and we have install videos and guides ready if you want to give it a shot.

If you prefer having a pro do it, any car audio or 12V shop in the Portland area should knock it out in no time. Hopefully some local Portland members can drop a good shop recommendation here.

Let us know how it goes! šŸ‘

I notice you don't have one for the Ford Ranger 5G 2020. Is one in the works? Thanks,
No immediate plans for the 2020 Ranger 5G at the moment.
I'll bring this feedback to our engineering team to see if we can add it to future planning. Thanks for checking in!

Do they record audio as well? FYI, I prefer no audio.

Yeah, it records sound by default, but you can easily turn it off in the app. Just head into the settings and toggle off "Sound Recording"(see screenshot below)

So this is a plug in even if you don’t have a powered mirror?
Yep, exactly. Neither model relies on a powered mirror at all.
  • Model A (2022–2024, like your '23 XLT): It plugs directly into the Lane Assist camera harness inside the plastic housing above the mirror.
  • Model B (2025–2026): It taps into the overhead reading light harness inside the console with a Y-adapter.

Do you sell these Maverick-specific adapters separately? I don't think these are the same as I see in your accessories area.

Thank you, HRG
