It seems to be new tire related though.

Road noise/feel are a big part of the decibels in our Mavericks - and different tires sound/feel different.

However, your issue disappears when coasting - ruling out road noise.

Are lug nuts tightened to 148 ft/lbs?
Are new tires heavier than what they replaced?

Seems torque related…
It’s not noise. Actually - no noise. Vibration.

Only happening when accelerating. Tyres are the same when coating or accelerating. If tyre I would think that wouldn’t matter - maybe speed but not disappear without drive. Also not coming from wheel - which is usually an indicator of tyre issue. Happy to be wrong.

I’m just saying don’t let the tire shop off the hook. Vibration occurred only after their install.

I hear you. I did push them already - took it there and had them check / they ended up rebalancing. Unsure what else it could be in relation to the tyres TBH.

And the symptoms seem to point elsewhere. So taking to dealer for warranty work.

But yes - will be taking back to tyre shop and pushing them again if no fix from that.

What size Scorpian AS Plus 3s did you get?

Those tires have a “noise canceling” feature that adds weight to the wheel. If the tire size & weight differs substantially from OEM - it might not be the tire shops fault entirely.

So this was one of my first questions. IE - Is it just that the tyres I put on will result in vibration and a more "rough" ride. I know the stocks are intended to create a smooth ride.

Sounded like initial tire usage was with some unbalance and vibration.
For how long?

That could have pushed some CV joint problem from on the edge to over the edge.

All within spec - should be a good choice.
Maybe the noise canceling system also has a vibration enhancement feature? Sorry, bad joke.

Maybe Heybales has a point that the heavier new tires stressed a pre-existing condition?

Seems the tire shop (and you;)) are in the clear - but the mystery remains. Hopefully your warranty will be helpful if it is a Ford issue.

Edit - although I would make sure the lug nuts are tightened to the massive 148 ft/lbs just to be safe. Just being paranoid.

Appreciate the help / thoughts!

Will see what Ford says. The idea that misbalance may have sped-up an existing CV issue sounds solid. I agree.

Going to put some more air in there to see it that helps too.

Otherwise, will check the torque as you suggested and maybe even get road-force balancing completed to really check the tyres off.

Otherwise, I have tyres that vibrate. Annoying but as long as it doesn't cause damage or wear - not a huge concern to me.

Will report back for others.

Sorta like abusing, I mean using the 12V system to show up an already almost bad battery - but before the 3/36 warranty is up.

At least you'll be going in with balanced tires so they don't just throw that back at ya.

And if not that extreme yet, should mean other components didn't get hammered that bad.

Update!

The dealer indicated it is indeed bad CVs. Said it is a “common issue” with Mavericks. Assume they mean at this mileage. They are going to replace under powertrain warranty.

My question would be if that is the case, do we expect or should we plan for regular replacements every X amount of miles?

Exactly the question I will have at pickup.

Common as in - will need replaced every 30 to 40 or just stocks are going “early”.

My "assumption" would be yes. There's a long list of post/threads about the cv issues with some reporting them having to be replaced multiple times.

The replacement will be a newer more heavy duty model compared to what came on it.

Not sure if anyone has had those with enough miles to see how long they take to go bad.

Was it spring 25 those started getting used, or summer?

I hope so. And I think that would make sense from their perspective given done under warranty.

I have a 2024 (picked up January). So not great - 2.5 years and 40K before they went.
