I have to ask the question. I took my first 'long' trip in the mini truck yesterday and am baffled by the heater. I have an XLT AWD Lux package.

Here is what is going on. On short trips I have to have the temp set at 62 to be comfortable because it is so hot. The passenger side blows at what I would expect, but the drivers side blows straight up hot air.

I have an instant read thermometer and the drivers side is 10 to 15 degrees hotter than the passenger side, even reaching as much as 115 degrees while the temp was set at 65. I know they have a different tool to measure air temp, but the instant read is all I had.

I have an appointment with the dealer this afternoon but aren't really too excited about the possibility of them ripping the dash out to fix a blend door.

Has any one run into a similar issue. I was thinking maybe the cabin air filter was still in the wrapping or something.

I have the same exact issue. 62-63°F on drivers knob to maintain 72-73°F. If I go any lower, it's pretty cold. Like dropping off a cliff. Any higher, I am broiling in my own juices. I like my cabin around 68-69°F, but I can't hit that sweet spot.

Production Date 11/18.

I ran mine at 74 yesterday for a 25 mile each way trip. It was 41 outside. Worked perfectly on my Hybrid XLT. Had setting on floor-windshield and recirculating and fan on 3 lights.

Do you have the 'auto' climate control?

Just trying to pinpoint if its a blend door, internal sensor or perhaps an engine t-stat issue.

Hi, experiencing the same issue. Went on a 8 hour drive. Had the temp set at 63 and was still uncomfortable. Anything hotter was unbearable. In my prior vechiles I would set my temp around 68-71. Called two of my local ford dealers and they made it seem like I was an idiot and that is how it operates.....

I have an service appointment set up because I want them to verify if the truck is or is not operating correctly.

Please post your results once your maverick is serviced.

I have mine set to 80-85 degrees and it’s perfectly warm and cozy! Anything above 80 is due to 0 to -10 temps… I have had it set to hi a few times. But usually perfection is 78-80 on mine? Wow 63 would freeze me in the mav

Any update on what the dealer was able to conclude was the cause?

Similar issues, I keep it 67-70 and the internal temps are in the mid 80s. I have noticed the colder it gets the closer to reality it gets, though that may just be excess heat bleeding off. In 30F temps 70 is unbearably hot. At 0 it's OK.

This is interesting. Sister in law had a 2013 Ford Explorer Sport and the blend door on that thing was horribly designed and would self destruct, I replaced it twice and finally the last time it went along with a coolant seal on one of the turbos she traded it in. When the blend door self destructed this is the exact same thing it would do, hot air on the driver no matter what setting. I wanted to go with the Santa Cruz because I've had two Hyundais and they were dead reliable but the lease rates on the Maverick are so much better. This isn't really confidence inspiring.

I too have a heater that runs hot. anything 64 and above and the cabin becomes very warm. 63 is good. Last night I was waiting in a lot for someone. So I experimented a little. when I set the temp to 64 the fan would blow on high. At 63 fan would slow way down. Making me think it is a temp calibration issue determining the speed to blow air.

Had the dealer look at my maverick Monday. They completed their checks. All systems were operating properly they claimed. They said if I have any issues in spring when weather warms up to bring it back in. I'm located in Missouri so its been cold. Very skeptical that its working correctly. to be determined unfortunately.

Once I get the cam phaser issue resolved with my Expedition I'll be taking the mini truck in to have them diagnose the issue. I had to cancel my original appointment. I've had my service advisor check the technical bulletins but nothing similar has popped up on them.

Definitely loop us in on what your dealer says. My dealer also showed no bulletins for issues of this nature. It seems like there is a grouping that is affected, but just because all system checks say okay it doesn't mean they are working correctly. When air is set (without Auto) I would expect the air temp to align and produce that relative air temp. I wouldn't expect otherwise.

I'm experiencing this as well. It's more than just too hot though. Sometimes it runs too cold. Basically it feels like it's all over the place compared to the "auto" settings I'm used to on other vehicles.
