Just read the TSP posted by
i'm having same issue and found that ford TSB # 23-2136 is the proper fix for ths issue
Holly shit. I almost want them to try or myself use a small plastic scraper to tuck it in with some glue. What type of glue.,i idk and fear that if it comes out again they would void doing the real fix.
I have/had the same issue. I used some interior trim tools I had to hold the seal away from the fabric. I used some adhesive to glue up the headliner ends. Once it dried, I pulled the seal back over the headliner end. Shouldn't have to fix it myself but figured the dealership would try to half ass fix it and make it worse.
This sounds like the way to go, but don't have the tools. I'll see what the dealer's service department has to say.

Only some vin# qualify for that fix. I had the same problem after my side curtain air bag recall. My vin was not in the range to qualify for recall but my dealer replaced head liner at his discretion. The replacement head liner was marginally better but still gapped like that. Tech said a large number of maves had the problem. I went home and very lightly moved the weatherstrip down from being pushed into position. (You can feel where rubber engages the metal and slides onto it. Stop pushing and do not compress the weatherstrip and it will cover. (Also if needed you can take a small drill with a 1/4" socket on an extension, cleaned well. Place between headliner and weatherstrip flange that covers the headliner near the curve at top of door. Pull trigger and the rotation of the socket will walk the socket along the weatherstrip and drop the weatherstrip on top of headliner. The rubber has less friction on the headliner and more on the rubber causing the "walking". Sorry I don't remember if I righty tighty or lefty loosely the trigger.). I have not needed to but I thought I would add some kind of very small extension to make the metal flange 1/32" or 1/16" wider to hold the weatherstrip lower if necessary.

Were the nuts under the A-pillar plastic installed on both sides? Because if those nuts were not installed, the headliner will sag.

My Mav has this same challenge near the drivers door as well as by my sunroof. It is frustrating. I’ve tucked them into place but they never stay. I’ve considered attempting to glue them by I worry about the glue staining the fabric and showing. I’m also not sure how to get the glue effectively behind the fabric anyways. I certainly don’t want them to tear the truck apart to try and replace it for the new one to only have the same issue somewhere else. I’ve been staring at mine since I bought it thinking about next steps.

Thanks.. Will stare at mine as well. Perhaps later, will turn a butter knife over and try to tuck it in.

Headliner problem on driver and passenger side (see picts). Seems like the material is too short and the door gasket doesn't cover it exposing frayed edges of the material. Took to dealer for solution. First trip was told by service rep everything fixed. Got into vehicle and it looked just the same only now there were dirty hand prints on the liner. Went back to dealer who ordered new headliner, went to pick up vehicle, still same problem with (new headliner?) frayed edges esposed in same places, only now I have marks and scratches on my glove box and dash. Apparently they had to remove both seats and center console (nothing could go wrong there!) Just wondering if any other owners have same issue with headliner and was there a real solution to the problem. Thanks

When I put in my cameras (hello! DD Pai) I noticed it was sketchy up there.. (I wore gloves as anyone who gave a 💩 about the truck would.)

They were on mine and the drivers side a piller trim piece was replaced because it was broken at the clip.

I had a plastic pry piece that came with my bulletpoint phone mount. I used that to help tuck it in but it didn’t stay.

Finally called a Ford Dealer and they said there was no bulletin for my vehicle. Will show them this TSB as know I'm in the build range, which have a memory of July 22-Jan 23.

Found it. https://www.tsbsearch.com/Ford/23-2136
Well, did take it to the dealer, they ordered a new curtain air bag and then called for an appointment and gave me a loaner. They just called with a problem and asking if anyone knows of the issue.

They got the headliner down, the a-pillar .. but there is a bolt that is stuck. It's in a tight place where the dash and windshield. They can't get different tools in there. They will try an induction to loosen all the lock tight and will have the loaner for longer than planned. I said, when ever had an issue with a screw, I'd drill it out. Oh but if he puts to much pressure it will go throw the body.

At their misery and anyone else even heard of this issue.

I just dropped mine off at the dealer yesterday as it's under warranty. There's another forum on here that has Mav owners talking about the dealer replacing the headliner. Not sure if this is only happening to one's with sun roofs only?

That 10 mm nut has nothing to do with holding up the headliner.

It holds a metal clip to the a pillar that has an elastic band clipped on the a pillar plastic trim, more to do with the a pillar airbag curtains than anything.

Thanks. Idk why they need to replace the side airbag. But they claim that is the first fix to try.

Did get a notification that the Vehicle in Battery Saver Mode. Used to those messages.

Me either unless there's a recall for them as well. I don't see how the side curtain airbags would affect the headliner that was either made too short or possibly not centered on the roof of the truck.
