Guess the repair cost!! [paint missing from front bumper]

I was fueling up my Maverick and trying to get the pump to accept my CC when another person yelled and said a white pickup hit my Maverick. Sure enough there was paint missing from the bumper and the other vehicle was nowhere to be seen. Went for a repair estimate today. No wonder the other pickup took off without stopping! $1162.00 and if the front sensor needs calibration after reassembly it will be another $400-500

Calibration after repair ? Do you have warning lights on ?

No warning lights but 2 shops said R&R may trigger a recalibrate. Nearest colors on parade is 350 miles away. The Maverick has less than 800 miles on it and I am a bit worried about a blended in repair in the AZ sun.

I had a company come out to repair bumpers and do touch ups on my lot as I worked at a dealership for 15 years. As of 2 years agohat was a $125problem to fix. If I sent it to my actual bodyshop, that was a $250 fix. That is the most minor of touch ups. A good shop won't even need to paint the entire bumper, they can do a corner blend. Find abetter shop.

Get some touch up from your dealer, clean the area real good and then touch up. Let it sit a few days then come back and wet sand with 1000 grit sandpaper and buff. This is not something a body shop needs to do. I get it, it is a new truck but fortunately it didn't dent or crack. My Daughter's Mustang got back into at our dog groomers a month ago and the lady did $2300 worth of damage. So I get why you're pissed. But this really can be fixed pretty easily.

What have you got to lose with the touch up paint? Do as previous poster said. If you are not satisfied, you will pay no more at body shop if you choose to go that route. It may not be perfect, but, trust me, in a few weeks or months, you will have other chips in various places on the Maverick and you will get tired of paying three arms and five legs to get each one fixed.
