Hello everyone. I found myself in need of a truck or truck like vehicle, and after researching decided that a Maverick would fit the bill just right if I could find one. However since I had a more immediate need, I couldn't have one built and wait a year. I searched local inventory and found a dealer whose website /said/ they had one in stock, so I filled out the little form of interest and moved on, also looking at some other makes and models with less rarity.
First thing the next morning I was on my way to go test drive a Nissan Frontier and the Ford dealer called saying the one I asked about wasn't there, but they just got an XLT with 4k, Luxury package, and 360/ACC in stock, and that someone else was on their way to look at it, so I needed to hurry. I changed course and went to Ford, but the other customer was already test driving it, and decided to buy it immediately. Bummer.
After kicking the tires on a couple Rangers I got back in the Kia and pulled away.
But before I could drive off, the sales guy I was talking to waved to me to open the window and said he found another one. Turns out a different sales guy (who had not shown up for work yet) hid one way in the back of the lot with the cars being serviced the night before, and hid the key at his desk so he could be the one to sell it. Well, his plan failed.
It was an almost fully loaded Lariat AWD EcoBoost w/ Luxury package, missing only ACC and 4K towing, neither of which were deal breakers for me. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but I decided it was worth it anyway and went for it. Couldn't be much happier with the decision. I might look into retrofitting ACC later once the process becomes more well documented, or the dealer offers an upgrade or something, but
.
So yeah, I'm one of those jerks who decided to buy one, and was able to do so within 24 hours. Don't hate me. Or do?
