Hello everyone. I found myself in need of a truck or truck like vehicle, and after researching decided that a Maverick would fit the bill just right if I could find one. However since I had a more immediate need, I couldn't have one built and wait a year. I searched local inventory and found a dealer whose website /said/ they had one in stock, so I filled out the little form of interest and moved on, also looking at some other makes and models with less rarity.

First thing the next morning I was on my way to go test drive a Nissan Frontier and the Ford dealer called saying the one I asked about wasn't there, but they just got an XLT with 4k, Luxury package, and 360/ACC in stock, and that someone else was on their way to look at it, so I needed to hurry. I changed course and went to Ford, but the other customer was already test driving it, and decided to buy it immediately. Bummer.

After kicking the tires on a couple Rangers I got back in the Kia and pulled away.

But before I could drive off, the sales guy I was talking to waved to me to open the window and said he found another one. Turns out a different sales guy (who had not shown up for work yet) hid one way in the back of the lot with the cars being serviced the night before, and hid the key at his desk so he could be the one to sell it. Well, his plan failed.

It was an almost fully loaded Lariat AWD EcoBoost w/ Luxury package, missing only ACC and 4K towing, neither of which were deal breakers for me. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but I decided it was worth it anyway and went for it. Couldn't be much happier with the decision. I might look into retrofitting ACC later once the process becomes more well documented, or the dealer offers an upgrade or something, but 🤷‍♂️.

So yeah, I'm one of those jerks who decided to buy one, and was able to do so within 24 hours. Don't hate me. Or do?

Congrats.

Pretty sure ACC is not available on XLT so you didn't miss out on that with the other one. It is a game changer though, love it on my Lariat Lux.

He said xlt was sold - he got the lariat w/o acc & 4k. But either way he didn’t say was a deal breaker.

We can't hate you until you disclose how much ADM you had to pay. If you got it for MSRP, I'm grabbing the pitchfork! (j/k, congrats!)

It was like $1500 over MSRP but they threw in some tint and a couple other little things so no big deal

One salesguy hides a vehicle and the key but the other one steals it from his desk and sells it out from under him.

Ever wonder why car salespeople have such a bad rep?

No shade on you at all. Welcome to the club.

I'm also one of those jerks.

Decided to look for one and found it on my first search. An hour later, we were test driving a refused XLT 2.0 AWD with Lux, CP 360, moonroof, manual sliding rear window, and floor liners in Velocity Blue. While we were there, the dealership was fielding calls from multiple people but we ended up buying it just 3 hours after first spotting it on-line. Picked it up the next day.

Purchased for MSRP, with no add-ons, from a dealer that doesn't play finance or sales games and picked it up the next morning.

I'm guessing that you thank the Maverick gods every time you see another post about ordering or delivery issues. I know I do and I can live with being a jerk. 😉

I had a similar situation with mine as well. I was not in the market for a new vehicle until the CAT on my Escape craped out, and it would be 4 weeks to get one in and over what we wanted to spend on the repair, right after we had put a bunch of money fixing a few other issues. I was looking at a few different cars, but REALLY wanted a Maverick. Figured with the popularity I would not find one for a decent price. My wife's cousin just happened to be looking at a few dealerships for Mavericks, and found one about an hour and a half north of where I live. I called, they said they still had it, so I went and bought it lol. The dealership was GREAT. I did not pay over MSRP for the Truck. It has every option I wanted plus the 4k tow package. So happy me! lol

Congratulation on the truck, I absolutely love mine

Thats how I got mine. The 3 potential customers at the dealership were glairing daggers at my wife and I. When I handed my CC to the salesperson as I walked in (refundable deposit) I could feel eyes burning into my back. Drove the fully optioned HPR Hybrid home the next day. One of the smartest things Ive done and the dealer upcharge has been negated by the price increases since my purchase.

Mine was similar... It was subject to the air bag recall, so they could not sell it. Original orderer gave up and bought something else. Time dragged on... Then my salesman was asked by the sales manager to move a Maverick from service to the parking lot - they just finished replacing the air bags. So, as he's moving the truck, he calls me to tell me about it. I agreed to buy it over the phone, sight unseen, and gave him my a deposit via CC over the phone, and left immediately to drive to the dealership. By the time I got there, two other folks were waiting to see if I was going to close the deal or not. A lady had spotted the truck moving into the lot, and circled the block to come in and make an offer on it. Ha! Too late! Gotta be quicker than that!

Yeah, I paid some ADM for a Lariat Hybrid First Edition. But I'm driving a Maverick, which makes it a whole lot easier to wait for my Cyber Orange one to be built (and takes a LOT of the sting out if I don't win the "lottery" to get a '23 built). I'm averaging real close to 50 mpg on this tank of gas. I've driven more then 325 miles and haven't yet dropped to 1/2 full on the gas gauge.

I ordered a 2023 in September.

3 days later I get a call a similarly equipped 2022 showed up, and the orderer refused to take delivery.

I drove it home that day.
$3k over 2022 MSRP. NO FUSS. NO BS. NO WAITING. NO WONDERING.
A good value to me.
With the low 2022 Finance rates, $3k spread over 5 years was no big deal.
For me. Each person needs to do what's best for them.

I needed the truck for a big trip in October and a Kitchen remodel in January. I'd probably still be waiting for a 2023. And MSRP and Interest had gone up.
