I'm installing a Kicker 10" sub behind the back seat and a Kicker Key behind the dash. I'm using several of the excellent guides other club members have provided but I'm concerned about the ground. I've experienced parasitic drain on the battery before with bad grounds.

Can anyone share recommendations for solid ground locations you've used for similar equipment installations?

Thank you in advance.

Ive had a kicker hs10 behind my seat in my 25 for two months now and have had no problems using the most obvious grounding point

I always make my own ground because I often do not know what is using any factory ground, and you don't want noise. a perfect example of something that is likely to cause ground interference is a power window motor, so in a maverick lariat, don't use the ground that the rear window motor uses, for sure.

I don't have good pics of it because it's not very exciting, but in my Maverick it is just to the passenger side of the welds in the floorpan where the cabin vent and jack tools are found.

making a ground is extremely easy:
- find a good flat spot that is in a non-reinforced section of the chassis for ease of drilling, ideally within 1 foot of the amp or wiring block. you don't need to obsess about making it less than 6" or anything like that, even if it's a massive amp. but ideally between the amp, wiring block and ring terminal you have less than 1 foot of cable.
- use steel wool or sandpaper to remove a dime- to nickel sized spot of paint.
- use a ring terminal and carefully drill a pilot hole, and install the ring terminal with a SHORT self-tapping sheet metal screw.
