I have a 2022 ecoboost awd. For about a month now, when I turn left or right it makes a groaning noise coming from the rear end. It only has 36000 miles on it and I took it the ford dealer and they said the sound was normal. My thing is it just started making this noise and when I go over bumps while turning the noise gets louder. Has anyone experienced this or is experiencing this?

I've been lost hope for a dealer service department to fix anything.

It’s an open TSB for Bronco Sports
I know at least one person on here that had it fixed
Mine is making the noise now and will be taking it in next week

Let me know what they say, please! I just looked at the tsb and it appears to be contaminated rear diff fluid.

I'd find a competent dealer. This one either isn't or is lying to you to get you to go away. It's very likely the RDU issue.

Interesting.

To you both... does it sound like an RDU issue? I know in the past some differentials have been known to be the opposite of quiet, but I'm curious what this issue is and TSB specifics on the Bronco's.

That is what it sounds like to me. The tsb says

"Some 2019-2023 Edge/Nautilus, 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2021-2023 Bronco Sport, 2022-
2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) may exhibit chatter/shudder during
low speed turning events. This may be due to fluid contamination in the rear drive unit (RDU).
Drain and refill the RDU, refer to Workshop Manual Section (WSM) 205-02. Drive for 5 miles (8
km) in stop and go conditions with right and left turns and re-evaluate. If the issue is still present,
continue with normal WSM diagnostic"

Yea that sounds about right then. One grain of sand vs. 10,000 metal particles is all it takes I guess lol. Thanks for sharing that info.

Hey, at least it's only a quart of fluid and a quick job!

And sounds like addressing it very quickly.
Well, trying to, and depending on slowness of dealer.

"The noise is coming from the RDU. The first thing the service department will do is change the oil, and if the problem persists, they will proceed to change the differential. I had a long battle with the dealer in the past months since they did not want to accept that the problem continued, but after several visits, they ended up replacing the unit. I hope you can figure it out soon."

I just had this done last week, and the dealer referenced the same TSB. After having the fluid changed, so far the noise has not come back. I did bring it in quiickly, within 2 weeks of noticing the noise while turning extremely slow (sub 15kmph)

Good morning. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you have been working with? I would like to take a closer look at your noise concerns on my end.

My wife has a 2022 Bronco Sport @ 28,320 miles and just had that same issue. We took it to the dealer I bought my 2024 Maverick for service. At first the tech couldn't replicate the noise. The tech consulted with another tech that told him of the TSB on the Bronco Sport. They changed the rear differential fluid and that seemed to have fixed the issue. I hope that helps! Good Luck!

Exactly but I did not have to go to the trouble of the oil change BS ,My dealer told me within an hour RDU and changed it ! If you have a groaning noise when you turn it is the RDU the noise travels from the rear differential making it sound like a steering problem. It is covered under powetrain warranty
