Hello from Michigan!
Took delivery of my new truck back mid-March and have been lurking for the most part. Never actually thought much about the Maverick as a vehicle option for me, I'm actually not much of a truck person at all - my favorite vehicle is a Ford Transit cargo van (with the low roof, short wheelbase).
At the time I was driving a 2018 VW Golf GTI w/stick, and have been demo'ing my basement and having to haul bags of demo out to the community (condo) dumpster in it. Got gross!! I also suffered a fairly significant back injury in 2022 that messed up my leg and getting in and out of the hot hatch was getting annoying.
I've been saving for a while for an eTransit, but unfortunately I don't even have a garage to charge it anyways on top of it being a longer wheelbase and without AWD. Kinda assumed that by the time I was able to upscale to a new living arrangement with a garage that the eTransit would have more options, lol. A process that might've taken some time.
I was doing a check-in on Ford's website and felt like checking out all the 'Electric and Hybrid' options Ford offers... out pops a Maverick! I never knew it came with a Hybrid and it was honestly a game changer in how I viewed the truck. I thought it over for a week and ended up getting a great deal on my GTI and popped into a Maverick a week after that.
I've already finished the basement demo without taking photos, unfortunately. Had like 40 bags in total and I had to use the truck to move my belongings in and out of storage. Much easier than a hot hatch at both those tasks! That's about the only truck-thing I planned for this, otherwise it's mostly just for daily commutes and groceries. Lol.
Shown is with various WeatherTech accessories and window tint. I took these photos after throwing the truck through an automated wash and installing the OEM mudflaps.
The GTI got an average of 29 MPG w/premium and I'm currently getting 37 MPG w/unleaded, just hit 3000 miles. I expect this vehicle to be much easier to fix and maintain vs the import. Looking forward to that!!!
