Well, since I wasn't the one who ordered it and was basically buying it off the lot, I got hit with the full monty. I asked my salesman if there was wiggle room and he said that they had 3 people scheduled to come take a look at it in the morning (I had just squeezed in before they closed) and that was just out of the 10 people they had called back that day. So he pretty much said it was take it or leave it. :( Not too bad though, I think I only paid $8k over what the delivery price was projected on the build my maverick site.

I had a similar thing happen. I gave them a deposit, but only after I got in an email saying they would sell it at msrp. So technically im only out the 500 I put on an order back in December. That deposit was with a different dealer closer to me. This was just one I had called about a truck previously but it was sold. Got the call Monday saying the other customer backed out so its mine if I want it.

So are you gonna do it? I just went out to the truck for a quick break and while sitting in it all I could think about is what am I gonna add next. XD So it's safe to say I'm not regretting it.

8K markup, or 8K more than your original build, which was an XL/XLT? (You said "Didn't plan on going with this trim level" and "8k more than my original build")
Yes, I specc'd an XLT and with all the options my build was $28k. I walked out with this one at $36k. I was the last customer to check out at almost 11pm. Headed home and went to bed cause I started at 5am this morning. I guess with the lack of sleep (didn't really fall asleep until 1 because I was still coming off the high) I didn't really make that clear.

That's not that bad then, I think some people took it as you paid an 8K ADM, or markup.

Yeah 36k for a Lariat Area 51 isnt bad. it depends on the options. I have an XL with like 4k in options. It just is what it is, as long as youre getting what you want thats all that matters.

I had the exact same situation, and gladly paid the ADM, which was like.. $3kish? But I also HAD to pay for the truck as configured, with options I didnt have on my original order. So bed extender, rear windows 360 CoPilot etc etc. I had to pay for the KARR because it was already installed, and the dealers extras that were already installed.(Tint, protective coating etc.) But Im happy with it. So I spent more than I wanted, but at least IM not waiting a year for my truck now.

Exactly, nothing wrong with paying for something if you want it. I am okay with waiting (been 5 months now), would like it before summer so I can use it with my bikes. But to get something right away, supply/demand. Enjoy your truck!

Please read the rest of the thread....he said he paid 8k over what his order was for, and he ordered the XLT and ended up buying a Lariat trim.

" , I think I only paid $8k over what the delivery price was projected on the build my maverick site. "

He never once said he paid 8k over MSRP...

Thats not what he means. He paid 8k above what his original order was because he got a different order someone else had, which had more options, plus probably some ADM for sure.

Also, I willing paid a $3k ADM to get my truck early, which frankly is more than worth it, Hell ill make that up in maintenance and gas savings alone in the first year compared to what I was paying to keep my old truck going.

You call me a sucker for paying the ADM? Well, least I got the truck I wanted without waiting 6+ months. Im driving it right now.

Im not jealous you paid 3k above msrp for a XL. lol.
Apologies for not reading it correctly. But anyone that pays over MSRP is a sucker. Regardless of when you got your truck. Congratulations . Justify it however youd like claiming youll make that back in savings. You got suckered to pay above MSRP. The dealership is smiling.

MSRP means literally nothing. Manufacturer's "Suggested" retail price. Things are worth what people are willing to pay.

Find me a RTX 3090 selling for Nvidia's "MSRP"

You're buying a car for more than the Manufacturer says the car is worth. LOL suckers pay above retail unless it is no longer in production and that is a completely different conversation. Justify paying above sticker however you want. Dealership saw SUCKER written on the foreheads of anyone who paid above MSRP.

"Above Retail" makes no sense. Retail is what it's selling for, NOT MSRP, not even the same thing.

Go order a 2022 Hybrid now for MSRP. Oh right, you cant. If you want a 2022 Hybrid, they are sold out. Youre going to pay what the "market" demands. Economics 101. If I have something that no one else can get, Im going to ask what it's worth, not what the original MSRP was. Do you think restored 1978 Camaro sold for what MSRP was from back in 1978?
