No I did not use any foam or anything. I do not have any rattles back there. I also ran splitters off each rear speaker to power my sub while I was in there.
Install for the speakers was straight forward. Watch YouTube for how to remove all the plastics.
Yup those are what I used, and I am very happy with them. Put the Metra 72-5600 adapters in your cart, call or chat with an agent and they will make them free.
Just my opinion on under the front seat, I have an 8" under the drivers seat and I find that it really unbalances the sound. My left ear is picking up a lot of bass, and my right ear is not. So I am going to mount the 8" behind the rear seat on the pass side, where the Lariat sub would be...
I will post some pictures this afternoon, but the black plastic door panel insert piece that holds the speaker is removable. Turn the white nuts (13mm) about a 1/2 turn to release them, then there are 2 molded pegs that go into the steel door as well. Remove to the 2 middle top yellow stickers...
Haha I will be doing the back doors plus trying to get some on the firewall. I need to get the escape engine cover installed. I am also going to try and order the fender insulation that comes on the lariat
Yeah, I am out of town but will post some at the end of the week. I personally think that it made a significant difference in the sound. There are about 10 recesses around the center of the hood, so I cut pieces to fill those. Then I removed the windshield wiper spray hoses and placed full...
They are nice. Made a huge difference in the sound quality. I kept the factory tweeters in the dash and mounted the Morel tweeters to the side view mirror covers.
Yeah just a small powered 8” sub under the drivers seat. Amazing that the small grommet let so much noise in. But I think the turbo is on the firewall side of the engine, so it would be close to where that grommet goes.
Well I think I win some kind of award. I ran a power wire through the black grommet on the drivers side fire wall, and it was not in all the way. So it was pure engine noise coming in through that.
on another note, 7 pieces of Kilmat on the hood really makes a difference.
Yes running off factory head unit. The sound does increase as I increase the revs, sounds like turbo spooling, but pretty sure it’s alternator whine.
I did not see any adjustments on the crossovers.
I installed Morrel Maximo 6 in the front, and Morrel Maximo Coax 4 in the rear and now I can hear the engine through the front speakers under acceleration. I used the harnesses from Metra so I did not cut into any factory wiring. I used quality oxygen free pure copper wiring from the Morrel...
A little bit of heat and they should peel right off. Its in the high 70's up here in Fort Worth, so just parking it outside probably gets the decals warm enough. As many have seen, even the FE stickers are terrible. I have not taken my FX4 through the carwash because I don't want my stickers...
Not proud of it, and should have double checked, but I towed 5,190 pounds the other day. Truck did fine, trailer brake controller worked excellent.
I underestimated the weight of the vehicle trailer I used.
