After deciding that this new Ford Maverick truck was the way I wanted to go for my retirement vehicle. I started looking for one. I had no idea they were such a high demand truck. Anyhow, I sent out multiple feelers for about a month straight with nothing back, but hey, we can’t order them and they’re all spoken for. Well I continued to pursue and scour websites. Lo and behold one popped up at a dealership about an hour and a half from my house. Even in the cactus gray that I wanted to get.
Contacted the dealership immediately and put in a credit app just so they knew I was serious. Left work early. Hopped in my car with a friend and drove up. Had never even test driven one. Was in an out of the dealership in about 45 minutes. a guy had special ordered this thing and then backed out because he ended up getting another vehicle. They had just completed the PDI inspection.
initial drive home down the interstate at 70 miles an hour. The odometer showed 36.5 miles per gallon. OK, I’ll take that. Heated steering wheel heated seats tow package all things that I probably wouldn’t have ordered but I’m glad that we’re on the truck. there was also a drop in bedliner which I was going to spray rhino but what the heck, I’ll use this for a while beat it up and then spray it. I plan on keeping this vehicle for a while. Put a few little customizations of my own on it, that I had already ordered, knowing I was going to get the truck. so far I’m loving this thing. My last daily Ford was also a 1972 Maverick . Looks like the circle of life.
