Gladiator ---> Maverick Hybrid light overland build set up

First post here. Just made the switch from my gladiator that was lifted, RTT, 35s, etc. We used to do a ton of offroading out west and have a Wrangler as well. Made the decision to get something that can hold the tent and get some good range for our average trips compared to the gladiator that got 14mpg. Please share any of your setups that are similar. Curious to see what is out there.

We have large portions of the summer off so we tend to road trip for about a month or so each year. Beyond that we tend to get away form a weekend every month or so.

Dont feel the weight nearly as much as I thought I would on the back. MPG only dipped about 5 or so during highway use.

Ive got a small plan once my mav arrives to try out overlanding, I've never had an AWD/4wd vehicle so it'll open up more camping than what I could previously do in my lowered vehicles.
Looking at building a bed rack for a budget RTT and go on a couple trips and see what I need to upgrade from all my ultralight backpacking gear.

How much of a hit in fuel economy did you get with the rtt that high up?

I would love to see see Jeep get into the compact truck market with a Renegade based "Baby Gladiator." Extend the wheel base a bit give it a 4ft bed and the boom you have an off road competitor to the Maverick AWD/Tremor!

I’ve used my setup a couple times and love it, You’ll be very happy with yours, But with the tent on and the bed loaded with camping gear I’ve lost around 7 mpg so be aware

Yutaka11 your Wrangler wouldn’t be a white Rubicon would it? My brother has a Sting Gray Gladiator and his wife has White Wrangler, both Rubicons on 35s. I have a Cactus Gray Maverick XLT Hybrid getting built in June. Nice setup btw.

I just bought 2 of those Scepter gas cans from Bass Pro Shops. They fit inside the bed underneath the trifold tonneau cover perfectly. I like your new rig

Highway driving 65+ it looks likes its coming out to about 30 mpg. I don't think thats too bad. If I really focus on driving efficiently it seems like I can keep it at around 33 mpg. Not bad as far as I am concerned. Slower speeds seem to be about the same when I am around town.

It looks like we have similar taste in vehicles. I have a 22 gladiator - still stock for now and just picked up my maverick hybrid last week. I have a new baby so I opted to build a towable setup as opposed to the rooftop tent.
