I bought my 23 XLT used so I don't know its history. I have been getting notifications on my phone that some features have been shut off to conserve the battery. This leads me to think my 12V battery is getting weak. Looking at the manual for the Genius 5 charger, it said that it would send higher than normal voltage to the battery in repair mode. My question is should I disconnect the battery before attempting a repair of can I safely connect via the jumper posts under the hood.

IIRC the charger user manual states to disconnect the battery.

Yes disconnect to run repair mode. It has higher voltage than most vehicles can handle. If you charge it and leave it attached to run it's sulfation and optimization routines. Then you do not have to disconnect it from the truck. Plan on optimization to take up to 3 days after it charges the battery. Repair mode is severe repair and takes longer times because the high voltage heats battery and requires more wait time for battery to cool. Optimization is complete when green light is bright and steady and none of the orange and red lights are lit. Some of the pulsing near end is real slow. I will sometime plug my noco g5 into my HF sav-a-watt to watch the draw. I do not remember exactly but the g5 pulls something like .05 when it's through and just burning the green light.

Yeah, I have a 12v battery from a camp trailer that I owned in the 90’s. It’s just been sitting around for 30 years, collecting dust. So I used the battery repair mode on it and now it works great. Repaired it back to like-new condition. Thanks, Genius 5!

Replace your stock wet cell battery with a new AGM battery and you can almost kiss your battery problems goodbye. I struggled with the deep sleep issue for months and tried all kinds of methods to quell any battery activity that the hybrid was creating while parked. Fed up, I finally took the advice of many club members and swapped it out. Here's a link to Amazon's battery replacement. It's the exact same size as your OEM so replacement involves no modifications. Amazon will tell you that the battery does 'not fit your Maverick', but that is because the AGM was not OEM until 2025.
