Fun fact:

2-stroke engines typically need no greater than 67 octane rating (R+M)/2

In some mostly tropical countries, which coincidently I would guess are low elevations use 83 and 85 octane rating (R+M)/2.

Russia used to sell unleaded 78 octane but I cannot find any current or recent reference.

Most countries do not use the (R+M)/2 "average" number. They just use the higher R number at the pump.
So in Germany you'll see 98 on the pump which is the same gas as 93 in the USA & Canada.

Note: Most countries do sell a little higher octane than the USA does. By 1 or 2 points across the board. It got me pondering why.

Probably their fleets are mainly very small engines, and USA & Canada have comparatively large engines. 🤷🏻‍♂️

compassioncompression is (almost) everything when it comes to octane requirements (include turbo boost as a kind of "compression" for the purpose).

So really old engines have silly-low (by today's standards) octane requirements. I've been told that prior to cracd gasoline, octane was about 50 on today's scales. (and, apparently, there are still places where you can buy very low octane gas. some think that it's better for their 20s cars)

Give me an old Sunoco custom blend pump from the '60s.

They still make those today.
But the numbers are digital now.

In a 5 minute search I could only find 5-way blenders.

I have in person seen I believe 7-way.

With warmer weather here in southeastern PA, my hybrid mileage has returned to the 45 mpg range. 550+ miles per tank.

i know this has probably been asked/said ad nauseam, however, i cant find anything on it. im currently sitting at 2720 miles on my 2025 maverick xlt hybrid fwd, the mileage im getting seems allot lower than most, back and forth to work(96 miles round trip) im averaging about 31.8 mpg, and that from fuelio.. doing about 55-65 mph. the split is about 75% highway and 25% city. how are people getting upwards of 38 on the interstate???? im usually sitting at about 27 mpg on the highways etc, city is where its bumping the average up.. is my truck still to new?
My experience is exactly the same — averaging 30-31mpg with same mix of driving @ similar speeds. No idea where folks are getting 40+mpg!!

Better mpg since it's been getting warmer. Using slippery mode.
This tank full 70% hwy 30% surface streets.
We'll see how it actually shakes out when I fill the tank, sometime this week.

I still have not figured out the link thing on here. But, one of the better threads I've seen was posted on April 9, 2023 by a deleted member. Use the search button for the date with an advanced search using "Tips" as a key word. There's four pages of tips from various members here although it's geared to the earlier Maverick dash displays, it still applys. This truck will provide amazing MPG, once you get used to driving to do so. Mine provided great mileage from the get go, but still don't often use it on the Interstate (usually try to stay below 65). I will take a rural highway before the interstate if I can. The Maverick loves rolling hills, most Interstates are flattened by comparison. I came from 10 years of earlier generation Prius'.

I've been getting around 40 mpg since I got it, I ran 2 tanks of gas running in the normal mode and 2 tanks in the eco mode. This picture is at 900 miles, I now have 2100 miles on it.

I have about 10K miles and I average about the same mpg, running on 87 octane.

Ya at 25 MPH avg, that could be better.
But some driving locations and scenarios just don't allow it.
Well, and for you, likely the break in is a small factor.
Temp sure shouldn't be.
