Do you know what happens when an out by of state car has a warranty issue and needs service in FL?
I know of one case where a plan was purchased in Mass, and the vendor refused to pay a claim because the claimant lived in Florida and knew Florida wouldn't recognize. Went to court here in Florida, and the vendor won. If you buy a FoMoCo plan, obviously that would be recognized as Ford definitely has a footprint here. But be careful with a 3rd party plan, even if purchased at a out of state Ford dealer. Realize States have different regulations on this.

The concern revolves around selling the warranty/ESP for a resident of/vehicle registered in Florida.

A Ford ESP is still available in every state, but only a Florida-registered and -compliant dealer can sell to Floridians. It's the same ESP valid across the country, Florida just regulations around selling it.

I didn't want to post my question because I knew I would feel like an idiot for even asking! Well, I'd rather feel like an idiot than act like an idiot, I guess. Maybe I should go back and tell him that I'll do 8 years for $1500 like you got. BTW, I've got the Ford brochure I'll get it out when I'm home. Almost sure that it covers the same as the 3yr/36K warranty. Thanks for your input!
Bear in mind that you do have 5/60 powertrain in addition to the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. It is possible that you will be paying extra for 60 months before you will even need to use the extended plan. You can cancel and have the refund credited back to your loan, or to you if paid in full, whichever applies. Here in Fl, you have 60 days to receive 100% refund.

Then I was partially wrong. An out of state dealer can't even sell a ESP to a Florida resident technically. I stand corrected.

There is a difference between the extended warranty and the maintenance plan. If it covers all oil changes and maintenance, it's a maintenance plan. This is the reason for the drastic price difference.

Now with that said, it's still not worth it. The amount you will spend getting your service done at the dealership is way less than they want for the service plan.

If you really want an extended warranty from Ford, Flood Ford and a few others will beat most any local dealers price and it is a certified Ford warranty that is nationwide and covered at any Ford dealer. I personally don't believe these are worth it but each to there own. If you decide you want the piece of mind of an extended warranty, just make sure you search online and get the best price.

One last thing, all Ford extended warranties are the same price for the 12 months. Then after that usually only about $100 more up until the factory 3/36 warranty expires. So you don't have to decide right now.

Just my 2 cents
Good to know. Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.

@L_Ron_Hoover, I am on the side that never buys an extended warranty. If I had bought one for every new vehicle I bought over the decades I probably would have ended up spending more than my new Maverick costs!

Note that you have plenty of time to purchase the warranty if you decide you want one. I would suggest for anyone considering one to wait at least a year or two - by that time you would have a better idea of how reliable your truck is/has been. You may have one with lots of issues, or you may have one that never sees the inside of a repair facility. Yes, it may cost a little more if you wait, but that would be offset by interest you would have paid if financing.

Also, NEVER buy a third party warranty. NEVER! Go with Ford's. I've seen too many stories over the years of people fighting with/against third party warranty claims.

One final bit of advice, for anyone really, when it comes to vehicle purchases/add-ons - never negotiate a deal based just on "x number of $$ per month". Dealers love this approach as it "hides" the actual final cost. Many buyers will fall into this trap as "$10, $20, $30 etc. per month additional" or whatever amount doesn't sound too bad when put that way. $30/mo. for example on a 72 month loan is $2,160 - PLUS interest.

Sucker bet, there is no such thing as an extended warranty covering everything the 3 year 36,000 covers. I purchased a Ford extended warranty but did so with Ziegler and I have a 8 year 125,000 warranty for a little over $1,500. They offer no interest monthly plan for 12 months too. So, I would walk on that dealer warranty. My dealer did the same thing to me and the guy actually got mad because I turned him down. He was disgusted with me. OH well! LOL
FYI code PAYINFULL at ziegler takes about $250 off.
Right now mine(@5,000 miles) would be 7 yr/100,000 for $910 or 6yr/75,000 for $625.
Still debating.
