This is what my 2001 Ranger bed looked like in 2021 when I removed the bedliner to shore it up by riveting sheet metal in. Under the new sheet metal are huge rusted out holes The rest of the other body was OK no rust
But no I didn't remove it every year to clean and wax it

Installed the Ford Drop in Liner. Very easy especially if you have a Jig Saw! Took about an hour and a half and looks great. I highly suggest not ordering your truck with it and installing it yourself! (That way you don’t have a building constraint)

I also put mine in yesterday and I’m happy with it except for a couple small things. The remaining little strip under the xlt lux power outlet and light in mine won’t lay flat. It’s kinda buckled like in compression but I can’t get it to fully free up. It’s not too bad though. I can live with it. But my reason for this message are the front upper hooks. I also don’t have the cargo mgmt slider like you. My front hooks are installed with a spacer washer at each fastener but there is little clearance between the bedliner and tie hook to get a bungee cord etc through it. I hooked on a net yesterday and it Will barely hook due to lack of clearance with the bedliner. I’m thinking of adding another spacer washer to increase clearance. How’s yours?

I’m guessing you live where salt is used on snowy roads. Am is correct? Personally I think the gov shouldn’t use salt and if they choose to they should be liable for the rust damage they cause. I live in Georgia and have never had an issue with rust under a bedliner but wouldn’t do one if I got snow regularly. They just started using salt in Georgia after a snow jam a few years back and I’m not happy about it but we only get measurable snow where I live about one every 4 years.

Question, Will the XLT MY23’s that are now being built with the Lux package include the drop in bed liner ? I think at one time it was excluded and a credit given because of constraint ? Is it now BACK in the Lux package for the last ones manufactured for MY23 ? I have a XLT scheduled for Sept 4th week that has the Lux package and 360 in Cactus Grey ! TIA

I have placed an order for a 24 hybrid XLT with the lux package. That means I'm stuck with the OEM DIBL, although I would prefer an aftermarket SIBL. My question, is whether the DIBL is prepped to received the cargo management rails I will have with my current Maverick? Are the mounting holes visible or hidden behind a DIBL panel? Will transferring them be a major pain? Can I assume the DIBL includes a cover for the tailgate?
You can do the cargo rail with it. There are additional spots that are marked to put the holes for the liner. There are markings on the back side for you to cut/drill on for accessories.

All the markings for cutting are on the back side of the panels, and yes there is a tailgate piece as well (it is visible in the OPs last picture). It doesn't cover as much of the tailgate as I would like though.
I agree. I wish it covered more; however, it appears it has a similar amount of coverage as the spray in liner from ford.

It does look nice but in 5 or 10 years the water collecting underneath there will completely rust the bed out. That's why they do the spray in bed liners. It probably won't affect you, but when someone removes that in 10 or 15 years it'll be a nightmare.
I agree. I have a cover for the bed as well so it will minimize the water. (Obviously some will still get in) but between parking in a garage and having the bed cover, it will last a little longer!

I've owned a variety of trucks, always had drop in liners of various makes and types, have never once seen one rust out a bed or even induce rust. I've peeked under a few across the years, including my 14 year old Ranger, and the beds are pristine. I've heard this "it'll rust out the bed" crap since I first started driving more years ago than I care to admit, but I've yet to ever see evidence. So no, I ain't gonna be losing any sleep over the modular bed liner. Check with me in ten years when your spray in is chalky and scratched to hell, and we'll compare notes.
šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ agreed! (Although I can’t say I have the years that it seems you have)

Mine is also close on the front. I’m not sure how much good an additional spacer will do and maybe the further out you put the mount, it may be weaker or put more strain on the bolt? I thought about flipping them to be the other way, but I think it will still be a tight fit??? I also think if you flip them and really ratchet down on something it may bend the metal. I’m not sure how much strain those are intended to withstand???

Salt is hell on vehicles….. I will be getting the maverick ceramic coated underneath before the first winter.

I think all this talk about rust is about northern vehicles and ones on the coast, lots of salt.
