Performing Maverick mods seems to be some good physical therapy! It's not painless, but it feels good to be doing something again!

I remove the toolbox from the pile of waiting mods and got to work. I did not take any pictures during the install (my bad) but the included instructions were 99.9% on point. The only thing I had to do different, was enlarge the D-pillar holes that were put there by the factory. There was too much paint for the studs to come through.

Here's a pic of it installed:

Here's where the two studs are located.. The tail light assembly has to be removed to push them through. This hinge does block off access to the 12v accessory wire, but it's super easy to pull the entire cubby out and reach the wire from behind!

The instructions say to drill out two of the holes in the plastic cubby, to insert two spacers. The holes in mine were already, so no drilling required. The kit does come with new screws and it is necessary to use them. The original bolts are too short.

If you're thinking about doing this, I think it's well worth it. This will keep junk and my jumper cables safely out of the cab!

Thanks for posting pics!

The modern vernacular is "pics or it didn't happen!"

Is there a way to easily remove the box without having to unscrew it off the hinge? I'm thinking of the times when 4x8 plywood or something similar needs to be loaded.

It’s hard to tell from the photos but can you approximate how much farther the tool box extends past the wheel well into the bed? I am very interested in purchasing one for ours. ( whenever it comes in). Thanks for the excellent photos!

I have the same question. Awaiting my hybrid Lariat , and becasue of the rear passenger reduced underseat storage, I ordered the passenger side toolbox, too. It looks bigger than expected, which I think is good. But if I have plywood sheets to haul, the toolbox will have to be removed. Easy to do, or not?
And, a fine write up, as well as the supporting pictures. Many thanks.

The box is 5" out from the wheel well. The lid is 9" wide and the box itself is just under 8" wide. Hope this helps!

Also.. It is super easy to remove the toolbox from the mount. Once you take the lock off, it's lift and pull away. (If you use the lock.)

Great pix & write-up! What does the inside of the box look like? Big open area? Removable dividers?

Will give these serious consideration to make up for the reduced (compared to my F150) rear seat under storage.

It's all open, except for a plastic tray that sits at the shallow end.

As others have said: Great write-up and pictures. Thanks.

Do you think the bin is big enough to hold a paper grocery bag or two? And, you can open the top without swinging it out over the tailgate, right?
