Anyone know if smaller wheels will fit? Been seeing some good 16" and 15" wheel/tire packages out there.

I found some 17x8 wire wheels in a 108 bolt pattern. I guess they dont have to be that much smaller. A 17" wheel is 'pretty small' these days. Ill do research what the smallest tire i can flash too. Maybe i can do a 225/50/17 or maybe even a 45

Smaller tires are getting harder to find, often have been sitting in a warehouse for a long time due to declining demand. Why would you go to having a future
potential issue just to save a few dollars now!

There's one company that makes a 16" wheel with a high offset (+15) which they claim fits a maverick.

Like jetnow said, it might not make a lot of sense since 16" tires are becoming less in-demand (and therefore getting pricier.)
