Was time to update my transportation and wasn’t even thinking of getting a truck as I never had one. I liked the Maverick XL as it is a third vehicle. Too bad it didn’t come with Plaid Seats like the original Maverick. 😜 I was just wondering if anyone else is a first time truck owner?

I am.

When I bought Rav4 I was already future dating son being 16, car should last that long, I'll save up those years for something nicer to get for me.
Year before that date starting thinking about what I'd want - the seating for 4 as big or better than Rav, more carry space would be great and truck better at that, better or same gas mileage, and not a big truck which would kill mileage anyway.

Checked out the new Ranger as that had been a smaller truck that looked good prior years - nope not small now.
Used Toyota Tacoma to be in price range - wow people didn't want to part with them until very old and high mileage.
Heard about the Maverick somehow - interested but none around. Used sites actually more than MSRP - didn't understand how that could be and no way.
Started seeing some inventory as approaching the time to get another vehicle, didn't want to wait until summer in case it got worse as MY stopped.

Love the extra potential for carrying - used a few times. Hurt both shoulders just prior to getting truck, so my normal helping friends almost stopped, right when I was needing it. Ya son is helpful! But still.

Still feels like an expanded Rav for interior size, and driving feels like a SUV - just appreciate, and will later even more, when I can use the truck aspect to the full.
Haven't even gotten my car repair toolbox moved over to my bed box yet.
Or built my bike holder.

First truck for me too. Two of my three brothers have been truck owners for a long time. Our other car is a RAV4 Prime, PHEV.

Though I've owned SUVs before, we've been a one-car couple for about seven or eight years now, living here in suburban Florida where I could either walk, bike or golf cart wherever I needed to go when my wife had the RAV. We're moving to the Finger Lakes this summer, and walking, biking and golf carting aren't viable options there, so I started looking for a small truck.

Same story as others. Maverick only game in town. Used ones commanded high dollar, so I figured I'd buy a new '24 XL off the lot. Learned about the rear camera delivery hold. On New Year's Day, I put $500 on a black XL with CoPilot 360 that someone had ordered and then walked away from. Delivered on St Patrick's Day.

Added a bed mat, floor mats, hood protector, mud flaps, tonneau cover and the tailgate liner. Astonishing amount of storage space under the rear seat. Almost forgot, also added two "cubbies" in the bed, and two tie-downs.

When I get up to New York, I'll have it undercoated/rustproofed.

It's been handy as a truck already, hauling sod and mulch while we spruce up the yard to help sell our house. Florida sod has an incredible amount of sand in it, and it sticks to everything. Figured I could just blow it out. Nope, needed a hose. There's an opening in the bottom of the tailgate that invites all the crap from the bed to get inside the tailgate. There are 3d-printed covers available that I need to get.

Love how it's easy to get in and out of, rides well. The gas mileage is phenomenal, though having to put the drive mode in "economy" each time is a real pain. I remember when Ford used to think they had a "better idea." That's a pretty dumb one. The RAV4 is in Eco mode all the time.

The RAV4 has been an amazing vehicle, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money on a second vehicle; and I wanted something that could haul chicken feed, trash, lumber and inflatable kayaks without struggling to get the in and out of the hatch. The Mav Hybrid is just about ideal.

Yes, first truck owner here.

Bought Kayaks last summer and quickly stopped enjoying getting them up on the roof of an SUV. We live a few miles from multiple kayaking locales; it could take more time getting them in the racks than the drive there.

Did some Googling for kayak carrying solutions and came across the Maverick. Was thinking about a hybrid for my next vehicle anyway.

When I test drove it I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I was expecting short comings or compromises. It’s really surprising there isn’t any other real competition out there. I had no interest in a larger traditional truck; that would be overkill for me.

Now bikes, kayaks, whatever, go into that nice low bed, easy-peasy.

Had it for about six weeks and couldn’t be more pleased.

No not a first time truck owner. Actually the complete opposite several pickups, extended cabs, and crew cabs. Most after owning a truck wil not go back to a car, SUV etc. That's why truck sales are so strong. Also the Maverick was designed and sold to reach those who didn't own trucks or a Ford.

Anyway, hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations on your new Maverick. I hope you enjoy your new truck.

I’ve owned an F-150 extended cab 1990, Ranger single cab 1992 two late model Nissan Frontiers, one a 4x4. My Maverick Fx4 is by far been my favorite truck. I just need a truck for the convenience of picking up items at Home Depot or Lowes. We bought a truck tent can’t wait to try that out! Super happy with the overall versatility of my Maverick.

When you talk about crossover trucks I now own a 2025 Lariat hybrid all wheel drive with the large tow package in space white, never saw the color when I ordered it, to my surprise it looks more gray than white but I like it. Anyway getting back to my original
comments in the past I owned a 1963 Falcon Ranchero red, a 1971 Ranchero GT red and a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac yellow.

So I guess small crossover trucks are in my blood.

This is my first truck, but I don't like trucks in general, and don't have a persistent need for one. I'm a long-time Ford owner, and wanted a new car, but the only traditional car Ford offers now is the Mustang, and the current generation is way too expensive and way too impractical for me.

The Maverick is more like a car with a big trunk than it is like a truck, and that's what I was looking for.

Like many, I am a first time truck owner. Always had sedans growing up because they were cheaper and more affordable. I had been leaning towards a hybrid AWD Rav4 or CR-V, but when I saw the Maverick was comparable/cheaper price for the same functionality (with Employee Pricing), it was a no-brainer.
