400 mile round trip from AZ to the CA High Desert, an easy drive, all freeway except for about 15 miles each way. The Maverick completed the trip just fine, I like the leather steering wheel, I don't know it it's real but feels good. Don't like the faux leather seats though.
We do this trip about once a month always get better fuel milage on the return trip - a couple or reasons, there is about a 4000 ft net altitude gain on the way out and we always start with a full tank so we are dragging that over several mountain ranges. Here is the outbound trip summary:
Didn't drop much below 70 MPG on the uphill's, 80 or so for the rest of the trip at one point on a gentle downgrade with a light throttle I glance down and it was doing 99 MPH! Very smooth and quiet, no drama but that speed will get you into trouble. Obviously not great milage but blame that on a new vehicle and a driver with a heavy right foot.
Took it a bit more gently on the way back, tried to keep it below 80:
Better milage but not as good as my Mazda CX 3 used to get but of course the Mazda has much better Cd figures and the new generation Skyactiv-G high compression engine rather than the 'old' L-series engine in the Mav.
Obviously the hybrid's strength is urban driving - still working on getting the best out of that, I've noticed in 'L' it's almost one pedal driving!
