Started working on cars when I was 14 and my single Mom came home with a rusty 64 Falcon. 2 cars inc. a 70s Mav, 6 trucks later and never paying more than 5K, I now have my first car payment!

Watched the market and happily held off. In the meantime, I found the metal steer sign in my profile to hang on my fence for a mere $5 at a flea market
This January started to see more inventory. Saw a dealer post with a loaded XLT for $700 under a base model elsewhere plus $500 off of the $33,800 MSRP.

Lux pkg/ 4K Tow pkg/ Co-pilot 360
Interior: Weathertech mats, Sill protectors, replaced the Orange main console liner added liners and trays, Home Depot 12" Husky flashlight nestles nice between seats. I keep safety equipment in the drivers rear seat well and a Marine size fire extinguisher fits next to the seat with a couple wristbands for cushening
Exterior: Bret sticker for rear window, Gray Ford badges and carbon fiber tail gate stickers. Tail Assist, Stubby antenna and trailer hitch step
Went with Lund Genesis Elite for the bed cover, the texture of the marine grade fabric looks well with the Carb Gray
Cargo bar is from my F150 -adjustable painters pole with narrow roller handle to use as a hook to grab stuff from the front of the bed, and an old milk crate on a Velcro strap for loose cargo or use as a stool.

Congrats, looks great. You're post brought back two memories, my father's '64 Falcon and Hamm's beer. I'm originally from Chicago and Hamm's beer was the THE beer at Wrigley field back in the day.

And your first new car smell to go with first car payment. You were patient and got a deal. And I see the truck has been "personally" customized. Oh, just now noticed the step on back bumper. Now I want one.

Kudos on the old guy setup. I will use some of your ideas for my old guy truck. Really like the extinguisher 🧯 mount.

From 1 old fart to another...CONGRATS!!!! My dad had a '63 ford falcon station wagon that we rode in from Caly to Camden NJ in '63. 2 and a half days...Mom drove and dad and the boys slept in the back and visa versa... And then he bought both the Maverick and Pinto in the early '70s

Love it! I have an XL, same color.
I ordered other people's vehicles for years. First time I ever ordered one for me. She's going into the shop to get new shoes this weekend. Other than a tonneau cover and a few accent pieces, she's a base model and exactly what I want.
Enjoy
(Cool sign and👍 on the Hamms)

Congratulations. Mine was my first ever new vehicle too, and I'm older than I should be.
