Had my Wildpeak trails now for about 2 months. Solid tires was curious how they perform in snow. My size is 245/65/17. I live in Toronto Canada, we had a pretty big snow storm last week and it was the perfect time to test these tires out. As I expected from a “NEW” tire, stamped 2021 week 36. They worked perfect, no problems at all in the snow. Tires looked amazing in the snow. Tire pressures set at 35psi front and 32psi rear. Yah I put 32 in the back because I don’t have much to carry usually and I noticed based on tread contact to ground that not the full tread is in contact with ground when 35psi is used. So I dropped them to 32psi in the rear and full contact patch now on tires. Had small difficulty driving thru 15” of snow. But I think it’s cause of ground clearance. If I were drop tire pressures to 25psi might be better due to more tire flex which will expel snow more. I have a 1” lift kit installed in the front too. Here’s a pic of how it looked.
Initially I was debating on the AT3W vs Trails, but ended up going with the trails for multiple reasons. I was able to get them at almost cost price plus $80CDN rebate, so price was one. 2nd availability on AT3W when I was shopping was zero. 3rd after looking at multiple AT3W pictures, I think that tire is too aggressive looking for this vehicle/tire size setup. Don’t get me wrong the AT3W Look good but for my style and use might be little overkill. 4th tire noise will be much more noticeable vs the Wildpeak trails. Since the trail is kind of of a hybrid light terrain duty tire, it suited my needs more. Fuel economy would suffer much more with AT3W. I currently average 10.5L/100km (Canadian ratings) which is not too bad. With the stock Conti tires, I was able to achieve 9.8 so not a big change in my opinion with the Wildpeak Trails. Noise on the trails are much more noticeable from stock Conti’s but the ride quality outweighs the noise. The moment I put these tires on, braking felt better and my highway squirrelling feel was eliminated immediately. Could be from putting a tonneau cover on but we’ll never know. But overall I’d recommend these tires hands down. 9/10. Not 10/10 cause nothings perfect
